Percentage of homosexuals in the world

I think when the Kinsey report was done, although you may say there was so bias in it, homosexuality was less accepted. So 10% is lower than the true number I think. And are bisexuals out of this group? I mean they have homosexual tendencies also. And any straight man that "experiments" is not 100% straight.

I think it is more along the 20-25% of all men are gay/bisexual. But as some of the posters said, many of them may never admit it or worse never tend to their likings publicly or in secret.

I would have said about 10% based on the fact that i live in a small rural village of 62 people and we have 2 lesbian couples and myself all openly gay and then there is a lad of about 18/19 who lives with his parents and sets my gaydar off whenever i see him.

100% gay certainly exists,thats me!!

I'm currently reading a book called "Gay, Straight, and the Reason Why: The Science of Sexual Orientation" by Simon LeVay I have it for my ereader but I'm sure they print it in paper back. Its really good. It has nothing but statics, and research studies in it. It hard to say the number, cause people lie, and it is increasing of the number of out people. Gay is genetic the book is saying. I just started it a few days ago its good so far.
 
Getting a percentage of how many men love cock in the world is like trying to count how many needles there are in a farm full of hay :P Personally I think everyone in the world has or can have bi-sexual tendenceys :)
 
In psych class just two years ago I heard that it fluctuates between 6 and 10 percent.

2) I'm going to be a jerk for a moment and point out that there is a huge difference between being homosexual and being willing to have sex with one's own gender. Going back to the Kinsey Report, one of the issues with the report is that it didn't allow for experimentation; that is, ANY same gender contact was enough to qualify you as gay, even if you kissed another boy during a truth-or-dare. A lot of posters here are making the same mistake Kinsey did; it's entirely possible to have even full-on sex with another man and it not be necessarily be homosexual, as weird as I know that has got to sound.

In essence, if we allow that humans are adaptable, changeable beings, then we need to allow that sometimes they will act on impulse, and that sometimes that impulse will be counter to their usual behavior. Sometimes it is out of curiosity, other times just because the urge is overwhelming, but that the impulse does not necessarily define the person.

I think that you need to allow people to be people, and that means allowing them to occasionally act out of character. Sometimes it can be for good...but the bottom line is that sleeping with another guy does not necessarily mean that you are gay, if it's just once or twice in a lifetime...

My SWAGs (scientific wild-ass guesses) about the world at large:

Gay/bi, identify as gay/bi, out: 2%
Gay/bi, identify as such, not out: 8%
Had same-sex sexual contact at some point in their lives: 20%
Had same-sex thoughts or fantasies at some point in their lives: 65%

The real question becomes - do those last two categories count as gay? I know several people who say definitely - they count. I say they don't. I've thought about drinking coffee once in a great while, and even tried it once. I don't think you can then lump me into the group "coffee drinkers". Speaking practically, Starbucks shouldn't bother trying to focus their advertising dollars on me. That said, a LOT of gay guys focus on those two categories (or who they HOPE is in the those two categories). That's where the "challenge" lies, apparently.

Statistics collected in societies drilling boys to compulsory heterosexuality are false anyway. There is as much and surely much more M-to-M sexual desire than M-to-F. Present statistics are only a vicious way to keep the str8 myth alive.
 
^ In short, most straight people are that way because they've been brainwashed into thinking they are. Sure, let's go with that.

it is a genetic trait. the book i read was really good. it gives you tons of facts. gay people are wired to be gay.
