I can't attend as I live in California. ;)

I have met Rick Warren though (from Saddleback Church). His church is a few miles from my house.

I'm surprised that a zealot like you wouldn't already be there! Are there no airports in S. Cal.? I'm sure you can get a deal from SNA to HOU. What does Rick Warren have to do with this thread? I'm confused. :confused:

Is he running for political office or Televangelist? With this crop of Republicans lately it's hard to tell the difference. Both groups wail Jesus' name non stop in front of the cameras, then later that night they cavort with whores, drive drunk, fondle underage boys, snort down meth and other assorted degeneracies. :sex:

This is an attempt to get some money from the holy rollers and get in the race. If this doesn't bring in the bank he wants or needs, you can count him out of the race. The heat will keep the old folks at home because I doubt this will be held inside.

Rick Perry has about as much chance of being US president as I do....RomneyCo. will chew him up and spit him out in the drive to get the Book of Mormon in all the White House guest bedrooms.

Those who attended still believe the world to be flat, the earth is only 5000 years old. The earth is center of the universe, blood determines the race of individuals. Oppose any form of education in the public schools. Support any Republican regardless of his moral character. They also believe GOD choses only Republicans to run for office.

Extended biblical citation--Having written a book about how presidential candidates cite Scripture on the campaign trail, permit me to note that Perry broke a little new ground Saturday.

Typically, when aspirants for high office invoke the Bible they employ a method I refer to as the “cite and run.” Usually the politician mentions one verse, implies it aligns with his or her favorite policy prescription, and then moves on to a totally new subject like Ethanol subsidies.

This was the norm throughout the 2008 election. Candidates Obama, Clinton, Edwards, Romney, Huckabee, McCain, and so forth would cite a line from the Good Book, and then get on with it. Even George W. Bush in his 2000-2008 run would rarely go beyond two-verse recitation.

Yet what Governor Perry did Saturday is unusual in the history of presidential campaigns, at least recent ones. He engaged in extended citation of passages from Joel, Isaiah and Ephesians. He would reel off immense chunks of Scripture--without any interpretation whatsoever, as if the verses were self-explanatory.

Catholics, Jews and many other forms of Protestants, of course, simply can’t read their Bibles “without comment” and this leads me to one of Perry’s missteps.

Thank you for this thread Chris. I've been looking for this verse for the longest.
I have a very large very religious family and I'm always getting the "You gotta pray and send it on, cuz iffin you don't you don't believe in Jezus." I just want to refer them to this verse.
