In the world of gay slang, there are lots of words for gay men, or "queens."

There is of course, "drag queen", "rice queen", "potato queen", "bean queen", "hummus queen", "chocolate queen", "size queen", etc....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_(slang)

Now there is "Curry queen".

According to Urban dictionary, "Curry queen" is defined as "a homosexual who is attracted to east Indian homosexuals...."

Yay! I have found a word for gay guys who like Indian guys like me! :)

Hey there Jayqueer.
Just out of curiousity why is it that in almost all your thread,s and post,s you make
the main point the fact that you are a 1st generation indian who has quite right wing view.s,who then goe,s on to describe your perfect man as white, short hair and kinda straight military looking.
Whereas if i found out that the only reason a guy was into me was because he was a curry-queen well i don,t think that joy would be my 1st reaction.

All the terms are WRONG in my opinion.

Curry queen should be an Indian because of the curry.
Rice queen should be an Asian because of rice.
Potato queen should be a fat Caucasian (because of the shape of the potato).
chocolate queen should be a black guy ..... etc.

I love the alliteration on this one - it made me giggle with just a bit of snort.

You're just looking for trouble in all the right places, aren't you?

Pathetic? you passed pathetic a long time ago.

next thing you know, you'll be talking shit about cows.

Gosh......I was trying to share a piece of gay slang I came across, but I didn't know of, until today. No reason to hate on me.

Why can't we lighten up just a little? This wasn't meant to be some kind of intellectual, academic discussion.

Anyway, since it was brought up already by medic1, yes, I find that I am sexually attracted to White men who are clean-cut, short hair, military looking..........but I have friends & acquaintances from all ethnicities & backgrounds.

In fact, most of my male friends are non-white because I get shy & nervous around White guys in general. Especially the kind of guys who I am most attracted to.

So well hung guys should call themselves a "Size Queen" ?

Me too.

It makes me want to start using such terms as:

Cock Queen
Cornhole Queen
Keister Queen
Camel Queen
Christ Queen
Coconut Queen
Coon Queen
Kike Queen
Kraut Queen

And of course:
Cracker Queen

I wonder what they mean by 'East Indians'? Are they differentiating from the 'West Indians' in the Caribbean or are there are variations within the Indian nation.
There's a very successful chain of inexpensive restaurants in my country which specifies itself as the North Indian Diners.

Yes, by saying "east Indians" they were differentiating India (the country in Asia) from the west Indies (the Caribbean islands).

Yes, there are also regions within India. "West India" is the region of India that stretches from Mumbai up to the Indian state of Punjab and near the Pakistan border. "East India" is the region of India that's close to Nepal & Bengladesh -- Kolkata (Calcutta) is the major city of that region. "North India" refers to Delhi and often up to Jammu & Kashmir (the northern tip of the country). But when people refer to "North India" they usually mean "East India", "West India", and "North India together.

"South India" is the southern part of India -- and whose major cities include Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai (Madras).

Culturally speaking the biggest differences are between North India & South India. There are 15 languages in India, but most North Indian languages come from the same family as Hindi/ Sanskrit. Most people in North India speak Hindi, along with their local language. English is less often used. Genealogically, people in North India are lighter skinned and more likely to have lineage to people from the Middle East & West (invaders such as Alexander the Great invaded India from the north). For religion, most people are Hindu, but there are large numbers of Muslims & Sikhs.

North Indian food is the kind of Indian food that most people in the West are familiar with. Food like chicken tikka masala, naan, tandoori chicken, etc etc are considered North Indian cuisine.

South India is much different. The local South Indian languages come from the "Dravidian" family of languages and are very different than Hindi & the north Indian languages. Most people in South India speak English, along with their local language. Hindi is understood, but rarely used in conversation. Genealogically, people in South India are darker skinned and less likely to have lineage to people from the Middle East & West. For religion, most people are Hindu, but there are considerable numbers of Christians (the Portuguese brought Christianity with them when they arrived in the 1500s, & the British who occupied India until the mid-20th century were Christians).

South Indian food is very different than North Indian food. There is less emphasis on bread, and more rice-based foods. Foods like idli & sambar (steamed rice paddies with vegetable soup), masala dosas (crepes made from rice & stuffed with potatoes) etc etc are considered South Indian cuisine.

LOL.....I know.

Actually JUB user "ElmyDonnstad" came up with the phrase "curry hole" in a thread where he was responding to me, and I liked it a lot.........so I couldn't let that phrase go to waste! ;)

Thank you.

I know the Italians who make great generalisations saying a Northern Italian has quite a different character, appearance and work ethic to a Southern Italian. Can you say something similar about those in India?

Yes, South India is very different than North India, culturally speaking (of course, this is a generalization). See these two articles from Wikipedia --

South India -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_India

North India -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_india

Some of my favourite foods. I could eat chicken tikka masala every day. :D

Do South Indians tend to be healthier than people from North India because of a more rice-based diet?

That's an interesting question. I honestly don't know.

But in the United States, in most cities where there is a large Indian community -- New York/New Jersey, Chicago, San Francisco/San Jose, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, etc -- you can find restaurants that serve specifically South Indian food. Most South Indian restaurants (at least in the U.S.) tend to be vegetarian.

South Indian vegetarian food is actually really healthy, as long as you avoid any dishes that are fried, go easy on dessert or avoid any dessert, and eat in moderation (don't stuff yourself).

Agreed. So why do you gorge yourself at Chik-Fil-A then?

You've pointed out how healthy and low cal traditional Indian food is, so why do you have a weight issue?

Being that I'm a vegetarian, I tend to prefer southern Indian food. I tend to like the spices they use better as well. Most of my friends from India also come from Southern India. I love going to see Bollywood films in Artesia eating at restaurants around Little India. :)

There are a few northern Indian restaurants that I like but they have to be really good. I'm not sure if Akbar is from Northern India...but being that they have meat dishes, I'm thinking they may be....that place has some really good food. Shehnai in Brea is pretty good as well...that one has food form Northern India.
