Just came back from Frys. They're not restocking. So, I did a search and found some articles on this.

https://venturebeat.com/2019/09/10/frys-electronics-isnt-restocking-goods-in-multiple-stores/amp/

https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/10/06/frys-electronics-hanging-on-but-for-how-long/

In short, people everywhere are noticing frys electronics aren't restocking their shelves. But frys corporate continue to insist that that they are not shutting down, they are just restructuring, and they are preparing for the holiday season.

This puzzles me because they're not restocking! But they are not letting anyone go and they are not shutting down any store.

So, what is going on? If they are going out of business why aren't they closing down the stores and letting people go? If they are staying in business, why are they not restocking their shelves?

Anyone here have experience with retail planning have any insight in this?

By looking at what you are posting it looks like they do not have the cash or credit to buy the needed merchandise to restock the stores.

No one plans to not sell during November. They are closing. This is the make or break season. They are broke.

I agree. But why aren't they closing down the way other stores have closed down? Have a fire sale. Close down stores. Etc.

What they are doing, which is keeping full staff and all stores open while not restocking their shelves sound expensive.

Wow...I forgot about them. They're not around here anyway. There is a Micro Center here but they don't usually have very good prices. I purchased from New Egg every so often.

Perhaps they're looking for new buyers, selling the place as a going concern.

Never heard of the place.

Those pictures certainly look like a store that's closing. No way they can stay in business if there's nothing on the shelves to sell.
There's none here, but I always heard it was a good place for electronics stuff.
Sad to see.

I normally don't reply your posts, but I gotta say this suggestion makes perfect sense to me. Every other retail store when they closed closed the same way: Shrink, firesale, let go of some staff, shrink some more, let go of more staff, file for bankruptcy, close remaining stores.

What Frys Electronics is doing is keep all their stores open, all their staff members, insisting to everyone they have no plan of close, insisting they will participate in the holiday sales, and not restocking their shelves.

Actively trying to find a buyer actually makes a lot of sense here.

It's electronics. Is there some new breakthrough coming that will make everything we've ever owned obsolete? A Windows 2100 or UltraMac or cloud computing from the clouds of Jupiter?

Don't want to be stuck with thousands of old iPhones.
