Oh no, you're probably right.

I caved about two weeks ago and had my first $3.00 cupcake.

It was FREAKIN' amazing!

Well I can only hope the new "pie craze" will improve the quality of pies.

I owned a cafe/diner for six years and had to personally make two or three pies every day.

My favorites are peach, raisin, a good (real) lemon meringue, cherry, and walnut.

Did you ever make a lemon meringue with meyer lemons? It's to die for.

It was the 80's on a Puget Sound island and the meyer lemon was an unknown to us. :-)

Now that I'm acquainted with that type, I know that it would make a great pie!

I assume that the OP was talking about PIES in English. If it was in Spanish, you'd have people eating FEET!! :p

NOC, you had a diner? I had no idea, and that surprised me...I'm surprised it never came up "somehow" in the food conversations we've had, LOL.

My favorite kind of pie, or certainly high up on the list, is one that is NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to find: butterscotch. I understand it's common in the Canadian Maritimes, but it seems to be nearly an "extinct" dessert. It's something I greatly look forward to when I manage to get to a great casfeteria restaurant outside Indianapolis...along with their other great food...which doesn't happen often.

I know there's nothing more "American" than apple pie, but my favorite type is called dutch apple pie, it doesn't have a top crust or a lattice crust but is topped with buttery crumbs. Yum!

Pie was never out.

My favs are banana cream, blueberry, chocolate cream, and warm apple ala mode. Oh and strawberry, peach, and. . . oh who am I kidding? I love 'em all.

How can anybody not love pie? My favourite is the classic apple pie, served piping hot with cream and ice-cream. But sometimes, a small-sized cold apple pie dusted with sugar can be delicious.

When I was in America some years ago, I ordered key lime pie at a restaurant, but I found it far too sweet for my foreigner's tastes.

aren't pies over also?

haven't we moved to french macaroons?

Dude, macarons are so seven years ago. It is pies (and ramen) right now. Did you sleep through the whole maple-bacon thing?

*vomits:dead:everywhere*

Cupcakes are bitches compared to pies

What's a "raisin" pie?

Surprised no one has smacked his lips over what I consider about the most horrible pie around - though some folks just love them - strawberry rhubarb!

Funny about key lime, I was reading a foodie book with recipes, and the writer suggests adding extra lime juice to make it sour-er.

The key limes are not as "limey" as the regular ones, that's prolly why they suggested that.....as far as strawberry rhubarb goes, meh......not my fav, but if i had to choose between that and none, i would have it.

We have a local shop that makes some absolutely incredible (and somewhat pricey) cupcakes in addition to homemade gelato, the best banana pudding I've ever had, and giant oatmeal cream pies. The only pies they regularly sell are small, single-serving pies, and they're usually of the chocolate variety, though they occasionally make key lime.

One rare variety of pie that I particularly enjoy is peanut. It;s pretty much like pecan, except made with peanuts. It has a nice balance between salty and sweet, but it definitely has to be eaten in moderation.

Lube posted a picture of a pear tarte tatin on FB today, which brings back fond memories of my time in Paris. My host mother made a fantastic apple tarte tatin, and she served it with a healthy dollop of creme fraiche.

On the whole, I'm more of a cake or cookie person, but a good pie (without too much crust) is a nice change of pace from time to time.

I'm kind of the pie baker of DC; whenever someone has a party, I tend to get asked to make the pies. Used to get asked to make them in Michigan as well.

My lemon meringue -- from scratch -- won the grand championship at the Ionia Free Fair and first prize at the Michigan State Fair. Love to make apple pies -- dutch apple or regular -- peeling the apples and spicing them just right.

When I owned/ran a bakery out of school, I remember hating Thanksgiving. We would turn out hundreds of pumpkin pies. Perhaps why pumpkin, although good, is still one my least favorite.
