The old bastard has evaded justice until the end of this life. If there is anything on the other side, I hope he gets his just desserts then.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Barroness Thatcher and HRH Queen Elizabeth II are said to be saddened at the news...

WTF!!!

what political gain could there possible be for expressing sadness at the news of this monster's death?

I thought this thread was going to be about Pinocchio the little wooden puppet boy.

Fuck it; my eyesight is getting worse by the day. I really do need new glasses. #-o

I'm sad very sad in fact that such a man could die without being broght to justice and made to suffer for his deeds. They should have resussitated him for his execution. :grrr:

"Very good Hoody"

I think Generalissimo Pinochet's passing is no great loss

And to think, our good ol' U.S. government help put him their because we didn't like the legally elected Allende government.

I'm sorry another dictator of the world did not face justice. I do have this observation though: The Chilean society and economy as a whole seems less damaged by him than most countries are by their dictators. The legacy of most dicators is of wrecked economies and national strife in their wakes for decades. At least they were spared some of that.

That does nothing to easy the suffering of countless individuals though, or the responsibility the U.S. has.

He killed elected gov of Allende that brought him to power. He imprisoned well over a hundred thousand Chileans (torture and rape were the usual methods of interrogation), terminated civil liberties, abolished unions, extended the work week to 48 hours, and reversed Allende's land reforms.

it think this bears repeating

http://www.omnicenter.org/warpeacecollection/dictators.htm

keep in mind this list only includes most of the 20th century and only includes dictators.

there are early 20th century dictators left out like profirio diaz of mexico

there are 20th century corrupt and civil liberty violating governments that were/are kept alive by american interests like mexico's PRI government that lasted from 1921-2002.

Maggie Thatcher will be sad. It's a shame she's not joining him yet.

^^ At least the rotten old bitch can blame dementia for her ridiculous comments about Pinochet.*

She's as mad as a box of frogs these days. Apparently.

* Shame the old cow didn't have that excuse when she was in power

Fucking Lefties, never know when you got a good thing going for you.

You know things would have been better under Kinnock. The best Prime Minister we never had.

Admit it.

Or don't you remember the late 80s?
