'Pixels' - 8-bit Nintendo invades New York City

Very cute. Made me smile a lot and laugh a few times. Apparently Adam Sandler is thinking of making this into a Big Screen movie:

A month ago a very cool short film called Pixels hit the web that depicted what it would be like if your favourite 8-bit characters escaped the old Nintendo in your basement and invaded NYC Cloverfield-style. The two-minute piece by French filmmaker Patrick Jean shows characters from games such as Frogger, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and even Tetris unleashing their pixelated fury, first on New York City and then on the world.

I'm hoping he's interested in it only from his production company's point of view. He hasn't done anything that's made me crack a smile much less laugh out loud.

I think my favourite part was the Tetris blocks wiping four floors of that building.

Why does everything happen in NYC? Monster attacks, romantic comedies, vampires, the end of the world. Is the rest of America uninteresting?

(It's also the only city whose buildings everyone in the world can recognize.)

Because nobody would even bother to go see the movie if it was set in Poughkeepsie.
