I stood on the edge of a cliff at least 500 feet high at Zion National Park in Utah and on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Lovely.

Thanks for posting that, really nice, some I think I've been to already.

If that bothers you, you might want to avoid Mystra and Mount Athos in Greece. Monestaries on rock hilltops. (for those interested, special visas are needed for Mount Athos, its considered its own entity)
 
oh my.... height I am not afraid, but I sure am quite afraid just from looking at the pictures above.

Those wood planks doesn't look too sturdy to walk on, will it hold me? They look quite old...

Obviously it did last for all those people, but the simple idea that what if I'm unlucky scares the shit out of me.

I can never do what they've done. Such braveness and trusting.

the second picture up there, are those people going down that steep side of the mountain by simply walking or climbing down? I think I see a rope or a ladder...so hopefully they climb down, the lady in the front gives me the impression they've walked down.

It could be just an illusion and the steep hill is not that steep.

I saw that on TV a while back I think it was on Engineering Disasters. If I recall correctly it had something to do with the frequency waves of the steel and something else. But I don't recall all of it.
 
The basic issue was that the engineers felt the best way to fight the winds was by making the bridge more rigid. Since then, engineers build bridges with a lot more give and sway.

Thats right, because once the bridge started moving, it was the tuning fork effect.
