Anyone one else have plantar fasciitis? I've had it for the better part of a decade, and since I've had it for so long I can ignore the pain of it for the most part. I use arch supports from the foot store but little else. What helps you guys or have any of you gotten rid of it completely. I know my weight is part of the problem but even when I was down in weight it was still there. Not really worried about the foot pain but I think it causes poor posture and back problems and I'm more concerned with those becoming a bigger issue

You may want to see a podiatrist for foot rays. Sometimes the issue is a flattened arch and it may require a custom orthotic (which insurance will usually cover). Occasionally, there can be other issues that are aggravating the condition and the podiatrist can make recommendations about ways to get the pain under control.

Well the fact that I work in retail currently and am on my feet walking a lot isn't good for the condition

I developed the problem in my left foot about 12 months ago. Annoyed the hell out of me for a few months, then I purchased some orthotics to wear with my shoes and gradually the pain went away after a few more months. I wear my shoes with arch supports inserted all the time now.

This is the best way to go about it! My partner dealt with it for a while and after being under the care of a podiatrist and getting some inserts for his shoes, he is now pain free.

I don't want to be alarmist but...............

4 yrs ago I started having problems with my feet which resulted in loss of balance control. The doctor's diagnosis was for shoe inserts which I didn't bother with.

I have since been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer which is affecting the nerves in my legs and obviously the foot and balance problems are related.

So my advice is don't sit there and do nothing about it. Even if the diagnosis is simply a foot problem you could go see a neurologist for further tests. Plus insist on an in depth blood test.

I didn't put up with it for more than a month or two of limping and wincing when I woke up.

In my case it was really easy to control by wearing elastic ankle/arch supports, getting more active, and dropping 20 pounds. Went away and hasn't come back, and I don't need any particular orthotics or arch supports, etc.

I had it but managed to get rid of it by switching seats. I was using a stool to sit on and apparently at my height the way I sat with my feet on the rungs was really bad. I guess all my weight rested in the wrong way on the inch diameter bars. No matter which part of my foot it was resting with. Who knew. Was ironic because if I let my feet dangle it stresses my lower back.

I don't use stools anymore. Altho I should prolly get sole inserts.

Just found your post for the first time; wish I had found it earlier I came down with PF a few months ago. Went to my family doc (PCP). He showed me some exercises to do to stretch that ligament but his best recommendation was to get some shoes with good support. He was right...bought some SAS (San Antonio Shoes). They come with a folder enclosed that illustrates some great exercises. The shoes and the exercises have brought the condition under control. I want to keep it that way!
