Yes. I suspect there are a lot of people in the Republican Party who aren't too pleased with Scott Brown right now. At present, he leads every Democratic candidate for the Senate race.

Brown may perceive that he has a better chance in the gubernatorial race. For whatever reason, Republicans in Massachusetts have had greater success running for local offices than national.
