Playing Tumblr vids ...

In the Archive view, I'll click on one of the "Watch" boxes to go to a vid link/page. What I get is a select frame by frame 'flick' view of the clip, with a big black circle, with a "Play" arrow, in the center, with the clip time under that.

Clicking on that arrow brings whatever frame it was on to full page (frozen), with the "Play" arrow, and time, still there. Clicking that arrow does Nothing!

I have the latest Flash, QuickTime, MediaPlayer, Sliverlight, and probably a few more I don't remember at the moment. But, none of those kick in!

Does anyone know what Player the Tumblr sites are using now? It used to be Flash, but that seems to have changed! Right clicking hasn't helped in identifying the current format.

I have no problems playing vids on Any other sites.

I've been trying everything I can think of, for quite some time, to the point of it getting Frustrating! Might anyone have any Clues? Thoughts? Suggestions?

I believe the player is flash but I really hate Tumblrs movie player because its really bad and I can't turn down the sound or any of that. I haven't been playing too many videos on Tumblr. Sorry I couldn't be of any help to you Chaz.

I found that its best to just play it and then use DownloadHelper on Firefox (Not sure what browser you use) to download the video onto your computer so that you don't have to deal with its sluggish player.

I've got "Ant" downloader on my FireFox, which works quite well. ..|

I wonder if it would download something that's not playing? :confused:
 
I have the same trouble with the Tumblr video player, so I installed an add-on to Firefox, called "Ant video downloader" and I have no issues viewing the vids on my laptop.

Just try clicking play and it should show up on the add on.
 
Nope! Tried that! "Play" won't start so "Ant" can't see it.
 
The tumblr player is quite shitty, I can't understand how such a popular website used by so many people still has this poc ... sometimes it works for me, but most of the time it doesn't. Either the video doesn't start at all (just the frame gets bigger) or the video starts but stops after a few seconds and won't buffer any more, or the video works .. but you can't seek/skip. And as it already has been said .. you can't even control the sound ...
 
I'm glad I'm not the only one that couldn't figure it out. If Corny can't get it to work no one can.

I've never used my phone for tumblr but you're right Brandon they do play easily on my phone

I use it all the time to reblog but since I don't have fast Internet the videos take a shit load to finish.
