Please watch FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

I feel the same way about FOX and 'Arrested Development'.

Come on'... Fox stood behind Arrested Development longer than anyone ever expected. Yes, it won lots of awards, but, all the awards in the world won't keep advertisers paying if no one sees their ads. The people who watched the show loved it, but there just weren't enough people watching. It sucks when a good show is cancelled, but I really don't think you can blame Fox for this one.

Sad but true, and the same thing comes with FNL. Most people didn't even think it would be renewed for a 2nd season, but NBC tried and unfortunately for fans NBC's efforts didn't really work.

You have a point, but there were many instances where FOX failed to promote 'AD' to get the viewers. Winning the Emmy for Best Comedy Series was huge in getting the show renewed but there was no ads for it. Also, during its second season, FOX had the Superbowl and guess what they chose to air afterwards... an one hour long episode of the Simpsons! That would've been a perfect opportunity to throw in 'AD' and launch their then up-and-coming show, American Dad.

Not to mention the timeslot situation, FOX threw in FOUR new episodes in a back to back to back to back, 2-hour slot, opposite the Winter Olympics Ceremony on a Friday night during February sweeps. It's call dumping.

Okay, I'm just bitter. But since I don't watch American Idol or this House thing, the only thing I watch on FOX now are sporting events.

Good thing are there are official talks about a movie.

But to FNL', what Ben Silverman said about the show can't be good either.

I love FNL. Season 1 was awesome, season 2 just okay. They cut out too much of the football, and most of the storylines were bland or stupid. Still, Matt and esp Riggins are great eyecandy. I have to watch most Riggins scenes twice just to soak in all his beauty.

Now, how lame was the likely series finale last week. No closure for most characters (except Smash getting a scholarship) and we're left wondering about Jason being a father. The writers' strike really screwed this show.

The Season 2 DVD is already scheduled for April. And there are several efforts to save the show by sending NBC light bulbs and/or mini footballs.

Fantastic news!!! Now we get to see more of Taylor Kitsch and Zack Gilford. Yeah!!!! Hope season 3 is more like season 1 as this recent season was a little disappointing.

Concerning low ratings, all things are relative, if this show was on Fox or the CW, the ratings of 6 would not be of concern. This show gets higher ratings than current shows like Smallville, Supernatural, One Tree Hill and got higher rating that The O.C during it's last two years. But, it is low for a alphabet network.

So NBC has now announced their new 2008/09 schedule, and it is confirmed that Friday Night Lights will be back for 13 episodes starting in January '09. Filiming begins in July. The initial season 3 fall run will be televised on Direct TV 101 (whatever that is) and then the season 3 "re-airs" will premiere on broadcast TV in January.

Shame those of us without Direct TV will have to wait, but at least we'll have another season of Riggins and Matt.

By the way, check out my Taylor Kitsch section of pics in my gallery.

And here's a link on the NBC 08/09 schedule

Yikes... more FNL scoopage for season three. We all knew it was coming, but it still hurts when you hear it. I only wish it was Riggins instead.

This sucks. There goes the diversity. Why couldn't they get rid of Lyla? Her character really has less purpose than those two. Even though I think Riggins, though I think Kitsch is way overrated, he has less purpose than them too. I think they needed to hold onto Riggins because he is the "hottie" of the show.

During the second season, Smash was a graduating senior, and Jason already graduated (or got his GED). So it's realistic for them to move on. It's always a little weird on high-school based shows when the characters stick around even after they're supposed to have graduated and gone on to college.

(I remember that Family Ties contrived things so that Alex P Keaton went to college locally and continued to live at home rather than going away to college as he said he wanted to.)

^I agree but in a town like Dillon, High School football is the life of a town. Jason is still handicapped so it would be realistic for him to stick around. Plus he was coaching for a bit. Smash was having recruitment issues because of his racial incident, so he could have stayed too.

Lyla Garrity really has no reason to still be there. Really the only people who should still be there is Matt, Julie, Eric, Tami, and Landry. And Tyra was going to community college from what a i remember.

Tyler Kitsch is looking hotter than ever as Riggins. Hope he never graduates:D.

The season finale is next week, if anyone cares.

Friday Night Lights has been renewed for 2 more seasons (13 episodes each season) with Direct TV airing them in the fall, and NBC airing them in Janaury.

This is best show that no one seems to talk about.

This is the best show on TV. Period. I cant believe we have to go through this direct TV crap again.

On the one hand, I agree, but it is DirectTV who is paying much of the expenses for this show. Given its extremely dismal ratings, I think perhaps we ought to be enthusicastically bowing to Direct for keeping this show alive and, on top of that, with a fabulous 2 year committment.....that's awesome news even if we do have to wait until January to view it.

I'm wondering if Taylor and/or Zach (Riggins and Matt) will return for season #3 since they're graduating. Will their characters be written off like Smash and Street? I'm assuming Landry and JD will have upgraded storylines for next year. My guess is that Riggins will be around some since he and Lyla are going to nearby San Antonio State, and their families will still live in Dillion.

I'm not sure if they showed the finale yet on NBC. Highlight if you wanna be spoiled. But Lyla ended up going to Vanderbilt. Buddy's rich brother pays for it. Matt decides to stay when he and Julie are at Mindy and Billy Riggins' wedding. I dont really like JD. I hope he remains a recurring character and not a regular. I'm gonna miss Tyra though. At first she was my least favorite. They didnt seem to know what to do with her. But she became my favorite.
