I had planned on coming out to mom and i think she already knew...but she found me on myspace and we talked it out and shes cool with what i do because its my life! However...how do i make it more evident to my dad that im gay....ive pretty much done everything...he caught me looking at porn, hes seen me take an extreme intrest in fashion and hes seen me in SHORT SHORTS! i think he knows i just wish he'd say something....can anyone know a way to ease him into it...and gay things are his favorite thing to talk about, it took me 4 years to hear him say gay....*sigh* oh and this is first post so HI! :-)

He's probably waiting for you to say something, because he doesn't want to force you into saying anything before you're ready.

Hi and Welcome to our little forum. I assume you parents do talk to each other and they would have talked about you so I can't imagine he doesn't know your gay. But perhaps your Dad hasn't articulated in his mind the appropiate response so his is not ready to discuss anything with you as yet. I would also gather that he has not reacted badly either and just give him time to get used to the idea.

Just carry on as you are and when the time is right for him he will mention it.

Me: Mom, Dad, I'm gay.... (Crying, bawling.... ashamed)
Dad: Well... so.... What's new??
Mom: Well... do you swallow?
:rotflmao:
I would have died. As if telling them weren't hard enough, what a reaction! LOL

Anyway, welcome dirtyturtle! Hope you enjoy JUB.

You dad probably knows. tze100 is probably right in that he's waiting for you to say something so as to not embarrass you by bringing it up before you're ready to discuss it. Also, as FabFairy said, do your parents talk to each other? If so, your mother has probably told him--or perhaps you could enlist her help in doing so if that's possible or appropriate.

Either way, given what you've done around him, I would say he knows and is probably waiting for you to bring it up with him.

Good luck, and welcome again!

I think it's your place to broach the subject, not his.

He knows.

You wear short shorts around your Dad? That IS gay..:p

Good luck, but it sounds like it will be fine with your Pop.

i'm still trying to get over your mom having a myspace account... dads are easy.
my mom sat me down and told me it was okay to be different...then she went to my dad and told him..."remember how we thought it would be fun to be like the brady bunch..well now we are" (we have4boys and 2 girls)and they were 3and 3)

You: "Dad, would you love me any less if I told you I was gay?
Him: "No son"
You: "Thanks dad."

I'd say that if you've alreayd made it obvious and gone through all the effort (or at least want to go through the effort of making it more obvious) why not just do the easy thing and tell him?

Your mom backs you up, and you'd rather make it clear to him that you are than just tell him you're gay? It's easier to just sit him down and tell him. :)

It's tough to say unless there's a context. Saying something like "I'm left-handed" sounds so...awkward. Saying, "I have trouble using regular scissors because I'm left-handed" sounds more natural.

"Dad, I'm gay" feels awkward to me.
"Dad, I'm having trouble getting a date because I'm gay" sounds less so.

That's me, though.

Yes i wear the short shorts but only on laundry days....or when i know the hottie down the block is home! i don't think my mom told him because she hasn't told him that shes bi....so i dont think she would out me because of her guilt! I want to tell him but i don't want the akwardness because i still live with him...
