Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver JOHTO REMAKES

Soon To Be Available for the DS!

Pokémon HeartGold Version (Japanese: ポケットモンスター ハートゴールド Pocket Monsters Heartgold) and Pokémon SoulSilver Version (Japanese: ポケットモンスター ソウルシルバー Pocket Monsters Soulsilver) are paired Generation IV remakes of the Generation II games Pokémon Gold and Silver.

Much like Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen revisited the Generation I story of Kanto, HeartGold and SoulSilver will revisit the story of Johto, with the player's starting area being New Bark Town. As there are no definitive details about the games yet, it is currently unknown whether or not changes to the plot and course of the original games will be made. What is currently known, however, is that the geography of New Bark Town, while updated, has not changed. The player's rival, Silver, lurks outside of Professor Elm's lab as he did in Generation II.

Like FireRed and LeafGreen, it is assumed that several enhancements will be made to the games to bring them up to speed with Generation IV, including adding features and Pokémon introduced in Generations III and IV. It has also been confirmed that brand new features, never before seen in the series, will be introduced. As indicated by data in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, these games are highly likely to be compatible with the Sinnoh three for battling and trading, though like FireRed and LeafGreen, certain objectives might need to be accomplished beforehand.

Kris, despite being the female counterpart of Crystal's player character Gold, is believed not to be included as the female counterpart, with a new character instead taking her place.

Changes from Pokémon Gold and Silver
Aesthetic changes

* Gold received a redesign while a new player character apparently replaces Kris.
* The DS's 3D capabilities are utilized in selecting the starter Pokémon.
* The PokéGear has been redesigned. Now, it features two designs, one blue and white for males and another white and pink for females.
* An image of certain locations, similar to that of FireRed and LeafGreen, appears when entering the location.

Location changes

* Elm's Lab has an upstairs level.
* Maps have been remade to match the design style used in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.

Gameplay changes

* The player's starter will follow them, similar to Pikachu in Yellow. More specific details are currently unknown.
* Similarly to the event Shaymin and Regigigas's effect on Platinum, the Pikachu-colored Pichu to be given to those who have pre-ordered tickets to the twelfth movie will unlock an event near the Ilex Forest Shrine featuring the Notched-ear Pichu.
* The screen that pops up when pressing the Start or X buttons in the previous games appears on the touch screen instead.

How improved are the battle systems on these games now, i wonder?

its now wireless :)

You can do it with a friend next to you wireless.. or do it over the internet with a stranger or with a friend you know far away.. even if in another country. All DS systems can connect to a router wireless. :)

Re: Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver JOHTO REMAKES

Last games I played were Red and Blue, but I was 14 then.

I thought pokemon died after. I sure as hell don't have the patience for it anymore.

Pokemon is the biggest game franchise today.

Nintendo has confirmed that Pikachu is to replace Mario as it's official logo/mascot.

Mario is no longer considered the biggest Game icon.. it's Pokemon.

Even after Gold And Silver... Ruby and Sapphire were the most successful games for Gameboy advance and sold Millions of copies. Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were million sellers as well.

Re: Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver JOHTO REMAKES

No no no.

The actual battling. I mean, is it still like that outdated GameBoy shit, or did they move into the realm of animation like Stadium for the N64?

oh yeah its called Pokemon Battle Revolution for wii.. and on the wii you can battle people online on your tv. Its kool.

Re: Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver JOHTO REMAKES

I meant for the DS game... cuz i don't own a Wii... but i guess i got my answer. :)

its gotten better.. it has a built in microphone.. you can talk to people online and hear them clearly.. and you can see eachother via the camera on the DSI when Gold and silver gets released again.

Re: Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver JOHTO REMAKES

I am really interested in seeing how this one is gonna work, it looks really cool. It's the PSP's version of Pokemon called Invizimals.

Kotaku coverage of Invizimals at E3

It could either be really cool or suck uncut poodle schlong.

Re: Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver JOHTO REMAKES

AHHHHHH!!!! This was my favorite pokemon game as a kid - by far...played it for hours.

Re: Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver JOHTO REMAKES

Honestly, I did have Pokemon Red and Blue at one point. I had every pokemon, too. It was frustrating having to find someone with whom I could trade.

The same could be said for Silver and Gold. Even though there are/were more options, as far as trading, it was still frustrating because all everyone wanted were rare, high-leveled Pokemon. Trying to catch, or trade would be more accurate, nearly 500 of those little creeps became tiresome after a while.

I never really thought that was interested in RPG type games until I played this years ago. So, I can say that this was one of the positive aspects that came from playing Pokemon.

Objection!

PW-Edgeworth.jpg

It was better graphics than red and blue while also maintaining the same sort of pre-crystal feel (after that things started to change). (not that I didn't love red, blue, and yellow - they were awesome but gold and silver are more nostalgic).

I also felt that areas weren't over-done in size as its previous partners were (I always remembered sickeningly the rock tunnel that took like a thousand years to traverse). Everything seem perfectly balanced for a medium-lengthed game that was also really interesting.

I hated the not having stones till the very end part though...hope they change that (I mean it's not like I'll buy the new one or anything anyway...too old for that !oops!).

Whirlpool's an awful HM too...luckily no one really needed to know it to get to any integral areas of fighting...

did you ever play Leaf Green or Fire red? it was a remake of red/green/blue.

Pokemon SoulSilver/Heartgold

Anyone have a palpad that wants to battle?

Anyway the remakes of gold and silver are out for DS.. totally worth it. .and fully compatible with Pearl Plat DIamond and all GBA games via pal park.

I have to say Nintendo did a superb job at making these old classics new again. And now we can connect with anyone across the globe and hear hear via microphone. Its almost like talking long distance anywhere for free as long as you have a wireless network.

Re: Pokemon SoulSilver/Heartgold

I just got soulsilver like 2 days ago..I'm still testing out the Pokewalker...I need 2000 watts to get to Blue lake so I can get a Dratini

Re: Pokemon SoulSilver/Heartgold

Guess I'm not the only one who still enjoys these games. I can't help it! I've always been a huge Pokemon fan ..|

Re: Pokemon SoulSilver/Heartgold

I'm totally gonna buy them. Just got final fantasy 13, that I have to finish first though :D

Re: Pokemon SoulSilver/Heartgold

Lol pretty much, but when you've been playing them as long as I have they still hold that feeling of nostalgia without losing all of their entertainment value.
