Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

With Free health care (People insist medicine should be free for if we love eachother we should want everyone to be healthy enough to function), green energy (Pokemon has wind turbines going in Pearl Diamond Platinum Gold n Silver for DS) stateless world (Regions don't make you pay to visit other regions as the world is not governed by an artificial entity like we are but by the people) and a world of unity are just some of the positive messages being ingrained into the heads of players.

pokemon-black-and-white-japanese-box-art.jpg

Black symbolizes ideals, while White symbolizes truths. We live in a world with many different ideals and truths, for one truth is not the sole answer and neither is any ideal. Without the combination of truths and ideals joined in unity, we will continue to live in a "Black Or White" world.

In Black, the player at the end receives the white pokemon, because the one who only seeks ideals but not truth is incomplete as a person seeking to live life to the fullest or achieve their dreams. So the white pokemon in Black symbolizes the Light going into the Dark, the dark not necessarily being a bad thing, for not everything is "Black and white" rather "Grey."

In White, The player seeks TRUTHS but not ideals. For truths alone do not pursue the need for progressive change. Truths are not enough to better ourselves for it is ideals that stimulate intellectual growth and the ability to challenge the truths in our minds as we know them. In White, the the Black enters the White.

The White symbolizes truth because truth many times are things we can see or interpret on a common level such as seeing is believing. One example is that people challenge my ideals on socialism saying that money and capitalism are what the truth are because that is the present. People only want the truth, but the truth can become distorted when we differ on definitions on what truth IS.

The Black Symbolizes Ideals not because Black is a bad sign but one that shows that there are things in this world we can NOT see so easily. Ideals are shadows, concepts naked to the human eye. Ideals are black because we can envision them with our minds.

You don't have to like pokemon but I mean cummon its better message then the violent games that GLORIFY violence to children and adults by shooting a living being, drug dealing or using, and making money for yanking a woman out of a car, taking her money, and then beating her to death right? GO NINTENDO!

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

How has nobody played this and this is the biggest selling game for the DS System Alone or any Nintendo Hand held system, let alone the biggest selling game this year so far?

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

How Come I can't see this topic in hot topics its saved in my faves but I cant see it anywhere on the first page i checked time stamps and its not on the main page..

EDIT Never mind I see it now but before i swear it wasnt there.

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

I play pokemon because competitive battling is fun. While I thought the story this time around was leagues better than all the others...i'm not a hippy and go soul searching everytime I play/read something that has a hint of depth to it...

Lol wanna exchange pal pad #'s?

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

I think the Pokemon games have been lacking since Gold/Silver (Red and Blue were of course the best, that's a fact :p). I tried playing Ruby/Sapphire, but all of those newer gen Pokemon just seem so random and stupid. I could never really settle on a solid core 6 that I was happy with, so once I'd beaten the elite 4 once, I was done with it.

Since then (that was a few years ago now I believe), I haven't taken a second look at any new releases. I figure it'll be more of the same, with the addition of 200 or so completely random new Pokemon.

The golden age of Pokemon is over, for me at least. Maybe some time I'll get an emulated version of Gold/Silver, for nostalgia, but I wont be picking up Black/White, or any subsequent releases.

As for the 'message', I agree with the above, sorry.

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

A lot of times video games actually do have deeper messages than those that are readily apparent. This isn't anything new at all. They tend to reveal truths about human nature and the world around us that are more accurate, more frightening than we'd ever be willing to admit.

Pokemon is not one of those games. At least not in the capacity you've presented here. Just stick to catching Pokemon and winning badges.

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

I'll be right back after I finish this essay about Pacman and the advocacy of drugs.

Ok. I thought I was missing something deeper when I was playing the games :P

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

When You defeat N at his Castle and Ghestis YES they do talk about truths and ideals. They talk about liberation of pokemon and people and what that means. They talk about how humans can not live on truths alone, and how humans can not live on ideals alone. When we accept eachothers truths and ideals then we can live in unity and accept that not only are our own personal perceptions correct. But the combination of peoples' ideas and visions will make a better world. Those who get Reshiram (The White) seek the truth, those who seek Zekrom (Black) seek ideals. It was along script and alot of reading. Maybe I'm the only one that sits and reads slowly to enjoy the full experience. I guess some just keep hitting the A-Button on the DS because they don't care.

I found the actual scripts to prove it hang on...

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

The fact is, there is free health care in pokemon. There are wind turbines in all DS games except for black. I have white but have not played it yet as the towns are designed to be less metropolitan, more naturalistic (flowers, wind turbines etc.) White is for those seeking IDEALS such as myself. Why I played black first I don't know. It was good though. Here are the parts of the transcripts that stand out to me if you'd like to see the full scripts ask me for a copy its a tiny file size.

Ghetsis: I am Ghetsis...
Ghetsis of Team Plasma.
What I have to tell you all today concerns the liberation of Pokémon. ("Huh?" "What?")
Ghetsis: We humans have lived together with Pokémon.
We require things from each other, and consider some partners...
All would seem to think this is the case, in fact.
Yet, is it really true?
We humans all entertain only that same thought...
Has there never been the consideration that it might not be?
Trainers order Pokémon to do whatever they please...
They work them hard under the guise of being partners...
What if that were to be prevented by someone to clearly divide them? ("Gasp!" "That's..." "Wha?")
Ghetsis: Don't you agree, everyone?
Pokémon are creatures whose sheer potential is limited by humans.
We are beings who feel they must study a great many things.
But what should we humans do to be ambassador to the oppressed Pokémon? ("Whaaat?" "Liberate...?")
Ghetsis: Correct! We must liberate the Pokémon!!
And once we do, humans and Pokémon will for the first time stand as equals.
Everyone, please do consider what must be done to properly get along with Pokémon.
And thus, I, Ghetsis, conclude my speech.
Thank you for your attention.

Old Man: That speech... Hm, what should we do?
Young Man: Liberate Pokémon? Now THAT'S a crazy idea!

______________________________

N: Well, White?
Zekrom has shown himself for the hero who will guide the world.
Together we will fight to bring reassurance to all Pokémon!
And now, I will head to the Pokémon League with Zekrom, where we shall surpass the Champion!
Thereupon we shall put an end to the Pokémon battles that wound Pokémon so.
A world of only Pokémon... it shall finally be realized.
(Zekrom TAKES TO THE SKIES.)
If you wish to stop us, you too must become a hero!
So! Seek out Reshiram, the Pokémon paired with Zekrom, and finally all shall be equal! Then you can stop us!
So, what will you do?
My prediction...? In the future I foresee, you will indeed meet Reshiram.
I offer a challenge to you who walks with Pokémon and earns their trust...!
Can you put up an opposition to the formula that will change the world...?
If you wish to preserve the bonds between people and Pokémon, search out Reshiram!
...Reshiram surely awaits you in the form of the Light Stone.
(N walks away and Zekrom scoops him up. Cheren and Brycen come in.)
Cheren: White, was that flying thing...?
Brycen: What on earth?!
Cheren: Why...?
Was that N just now?
How was he with the legendary Pokémon?
He couldn't really be called a hero, could he?!
And did I hear him telling you to search out a legendary Pokémon?!
Brycen: Calm down! Let's head back first.
The key for now is to clear up what's happened and decide what to do next.
(They return to outside the tower.)

Juniper: I'm astonished...
The legendary dragon Pokémon has truly been revived in our age...
Cheren: And that man, N...
The boss of Team Plasma seems to be the one who revived the legendary Pokémon.
Furthermore, he told White to search for another legendary Pokémon and flew away...
Bianca: Huh? ...There are two legendary dragon Pokémon?
???: Ah, yes!
(Alder walks up.)
Juniper: Isn't that Alder? Long time no see! Are you doing well?
Alder: Cut the introductions.
That intense lightning coming from the tower...
That Pokémon has the power to destroy the world...
If someone who can subdue it wants everyone to release their Pokémon...
Will he do it through fear...? Or admiration...?
Either way, we can't let the world be changed, no matter what...
I can't imagine a world where we and Pokémon are separated...
Juniper: I see...
And this Team Plasma boss who revived Zekrom, N, spoke of searching for another, Reshiram...?
Alder: ...I believe the legends say Zekrom and its powerful electricity, together with another Pokémon, destroyed the former Unova in an instant...
So N knew of this, and claimed the other was awaiting you?
Bianca: Huh... uh?
Wouldn't reviving a Pokémon that dreadful be kinda... dangerous...?
Alder: ...Little miss, you're too soft.
But I really don't even know if any other Pokémon can oppose it.
At any rate, the legends look to be true...
It would be best to do what N said...
It's not searching for the dragon - well, its stone - that's the problem.
Rather, it's the disaster that could occur if Team Plasma revived the both of them!
There's a place I know of from my journeys across Unova...
Let us head to the Relic Castle! White, all of you, come!
Juniper: Really, now? Well, I'll leave that to you.
I'll investigate the tower in case I can turn up anything useful...
Brycen: Then I will be with you.
(The two go inside.)
Cheren: ...I think I sorta understand now.
...Being able to do something for Pokémon in times like this... for anyone... that's strength. I'm sure of it.
And my strength has been given to me by my Pokémon.
Alright, Champion, let's hurry!
(Alder and Cheren leave.)
Bianca: White, this has become a major incident...
I'm getting a little confused, honestly...
You're going to the Relic Castle, right, White?
It's deep in the Desert Resort connected to Route 4... The Relic Castle, I mean...

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

<< In Opelucid City >>
(They walk up to Iris and Drayden.)
Alder: Long time no see, Iris, Drayden.
Iris: Oh! Uncle Alder and the missy <good sir> from before!
Drayden: ...What is it?
What could the Champion who left the Pokémon League to wander the land want from me?
Alder: Frankly...!
I want you to tell me about the legendary dragon Pokémon!
Iris: Y'mean Zekrom? Or maybe Reshiram? Also that's kinda sudden, so what's up?
Drayden: That shady Ghetsis man who was just making that speech mentioned them.
And that a character named N has revived Zekrom...
Alder: Right!
That Trainer N told White here to search for another dragon Pokémon or something.
Drayden: ...I don't follow.
Is this N planning to have the two dragon Pokémon fight to prove his own convictions?
Iris: Huhhh?!
He's already made friends with the dragon Pokémon?!
Alder: Correct, Iris.
Fighting with Pokémon is done both for fellow Trainers...
And for Trainers and Pokémon to understand each other.
Well then... I'll head for the Pokémon League!
No, in this case, it would be returning, wouldn't it...?
I'll beat N, of course!
I'll teach him how wonderful this world where we can live in harmony with Pokémon is!
And, White! As the Champion, I'll be waiting for you!
So once you have the Opelucid gym badge, come to the League.
Of course, the Opelucid gym leader is tough!
Well, I'm leaving it to you, Drayden, Iris!
(Alder walks off. What, no Fly?)
Iris: ...Aww, he left...
Are things gonna be okay? He looked a little frightened there.
Drayden: ...Don't worry, Iris.
He's the strongest Trainer in Unova, remember.
Now, White? Come to my house.
Like Alder said, I can teach you about the legendary dragon Pokémon.
Iris, you lead the way.
(Drayden leaves.)
Iris: The tale of Zekrom and Reshiram is a tale of two Pokémon! We'll tell it to you!
I can lead you anywhere around Opelucid! This way!
(She walks you forward some.)
Iris: And that way!

Iris: Just a lil' more!!

Iris: It's here!

Drayden: ...Well, I'll start.
That's the Light Stone you have there.
Reshiram, who will awake from the Light Stone, and the already-awakened Zekrom were originally one Pokémon.
Iris: ...That one dragon Pokémon made a new land together with twin heroes.
And people and Pokémon lived their days happily!
Drayden: But one day...
The older of the two heroes sought the truth, and the younger sought the ideal.
A dividing struggle began to decide who was right...
The single dragon that had walked with the twins was also split into two to support both...
Iris: A dark dragon that searched through the new, hopeful world for its ideal...
Its name was Zekrom.
And another...
A light dragon that searched through the world of the past for the truth...
Its name was Reshiram.
Drayden: The two being equal entities from the very start only made the quarrel more violent.
Whichever side won, they would end up absolutely exhausted...
The twin heroes, too, could not find either to be right in their struggle... So the struggle was ended...
Iris: And yet, yet, yet... the hero's sons began to struggle again...
So Zekrom and Reshiram used their lightning and flames to eradicate Unova in an instant...
But if people hadn't been mistaken about how to get along with Pokémon, the world wouldn't have been destroyed!
So Zekrom and Reshiram did their best for everyone and made a new land!
And so so so...!
Drayden: ...I'm certain Pokémon don't need possessions.
As people continue having their own thoughts on Pokémon, some of them may be hateful...
But even so!
It is necessary for Pokémon and people to believe in each other to continue living...
Iris: Yow, that's right!!
And so so sooo! We just CAN'T let Team Plasma separate us from our Pokémon!
Drayden: ...I'm sorry, that last part was a bit off-topic.
But that's all we can tell you.
Unfortunately, we know nothing about how to awaken the legendary dragon Pokémon...
Drayden: ...Well, I made a promise to Alder.
You'll have to come get the Opelucid gym badge.
Well then, White.
I await your challenge at the Pokémon gym!

Iris: It's great when everyone can get along, Pokémon and humans!

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

N: What I want is a world of only Pokémon...
By separating Pokémon from people, they will regain their natural power.
...Now. This will be our final battle.
I am prepared! Even if my Pokémon friends are wounded, my beliefs will prevail!
...Since you have come this far, certainly you must feel something similar?
If you do, I ask you to come forth and show it to me! Prepare yourself!!

N: You came all this way with the intent to battle me...
...Yet Reshiram is not reacting.
Does it still not recognize you as a hero?
How disappointing...
...I'd taken quite a liking to you, though.
In all our battles, I felt you could be a Trainer who valued their Pokémon!
...But it seems that was nothing more than a baseless assumption!
Yes, as much as Trainers fight, they can never build an understanding!
You have two options!
Fight a hopeless battle...?
Or else leave here, and let Pokémon be separated from humans to form a new world?
N: Come, Zekrom!
(Zekrom bursts in through the wall in an intense cutscene.)
[Is the Light Stone... moving inside the bag?!]
N: Your Light Stone is...!
No... Reshiram is...!
(The Light Stone floats out in front of Zekrom.)
[The aura-wrapped Light Stone radiated an immense power!]
[And now...]
[It's releasing...!!]
(Reshiram is summoned from the stone in another intense cutscene.)
N: Zekrom and Reshiram...
Originally one life... one Pokémon.
Distinctly opposite, yet exactly the same entity.
Zekrom and Reshiram both appeared before ones they recognize as heroes...
...I see. And yes, as is the same with you.
Do you hear the Pokémon speaking? Let me tell you what he says.
"I want to fight you... Make me your ally!"
He wants to test if you have come this far seeking truth...
I want to know your power as well... Now! Catch Reshiram... befriend him!!

(You're forced to catch Reshiram. If you make him faint, he comes back and "look at White as if saying "Catch me!""
If you run out of Poké Balls, you can warp out and buy some. If you run out of money... maybe N gives you one or something.
And he can be easily caught in orange health with a normal Poké Ball. So... yeah.
After catching him, if your party is full, it asks you to replace one of your Pokémon with him. ...And it just forces you to after two "no"s.)

N: ...I see.
It is said that power was lent to the hero who pursued truth. Reshiram has recognized your power and chosen to walk with you, then...
N: Now...
Your Pokémon are wounded. Winning against such an opponent would be meaningless.
[N recovered White's Pokémon!]
N: I have seen the future!
I WILL win!!

Team Plasma Member N challenged you to a battle!
(After one hit:)
...You think you can stop us with that?!
(After sending out his last Pokémon:)
My final friend... Lend me your courage!
(When his last Pokémon is below half health:)
Do you mean the world has not chosen me, but you?!
(End of battle:)
With this... my ideal... Pokémon's dreams... they have crumbled...

N: ... ... ... ... ... ...
...Zekrom and I have been beaten.
Your thoughts... your truth... Is that what has bested me...?

N: Reshiram and Zekrom...
Those two chose heroes upon varying qualities... Is that the case?
Two heroes in the same era, one seeking the ideal, one seeking the truth, coexisting... is that correct?
...I don't understand.
I would not deny differing ideas.
In fact, in accepting differing ideas, the world will experience a chemical reaction.
This... is the formula that can change the world...

(Ghetsis comes in.)
Ghetsis: Even still, are you not of the Harmonia name, the same as I?
What a worthless son...
Ghetsis: From the very beginning...
N's revival of the legendary ideal-seeking Pokémon in our time...
It was all for the glory of MY Team Plasma! To manipulate the fearful populace!
You did well to come that far.
But you wanted to fight a fellow, belief-driven Trainer who could also subdue a legendary Pokémon, to see if you were a true hero...
And in the end, you were beaten by a petty commoner for it, you utter fool!
It seems being raised with Pokémon only made you a wretched and imperfect human in the end...
White! I had not the slightest conception of the legendary Pokémon choosing a Trainer like you...
Yet nothing will impede me toward my goal! I will not falter!
So that I shall rule the world with an iron fist!
So that I can manipulate the hearts of those humans who know but nothing!
N has served as the king of Team Plasma.
But you know the truth of why that is...
And for getting in my way, I will have to eliminate you!
(Alder and Cheren come in.)
Cheren: ...Rule the world?
Wasn't Team Plasma's goal to liberate Pokémon?
Ghetsis: That was but a lie told to help in the construction of Team Plasma.
What good would come of letting useful things like Pokémon free?
But by manipulating Pokémon, the potential of humans grows tremendously. You must acknowledge that!
And so! It would be most pleasing for I to be the only one using Pokémon!
Alder: ...You dirty, deceiving...!
Ghetsis: Regardless.
Now then... that which is called a god, but is ultimately only a Pokémon...
And White, the one it has recognized! You have much to fear...
Now, have at you!
I wish to see that glorious flash of despair upon your face!
N: White!!
Ghetsis: Try what you may! I shall not be stopped!

Team Plasma Member Ghetsis challenged you to a battle!
(After one hit:)
Ha! I have made ample preparation for THAT!
(After sending out his last Pokémon:)
...Grumble... What could this mean?!
(End of battle:)
My scheme! My perfect scheme to dominate the world!!

Ghetsis: ...What is this?
I am the creator of Team Plasma, the pinnacle of mankind!
Should the world not change to place me in total control?!
Alder: So, N...
What do you think about separating Pokémon and humans now?
Ghetsis: ...Wahaha!
I obtained the legendary Pokémon without even having to be the hero...
That's all I ever needed you for, N!!
Look at yourself! You're a heartless, inhuman monster!
Is it even worth talking with such an aberration as you?
Cheren: Alder.
Listening to this guy's starting to just get annoying.
We all know he's the heartless one here!
Alder: You said it, kiddo... He's just plain hopeless.
N... You must be thinking many things.
But you were never really controlled by Ghetsis.
You weren't pursuing an ideal, just acting according to your own thoughts!
Isn't that why you were able to meet the legendary Pokémon?!
N: ...But me, a hero...?
I meet no such qualifications!
Alder: Is that so?
Well, now that you have the legendary Pokémon, what will you do now...? That's what's important!
N: Try to understand...
We've been arguing over our own beliefs until now.
And yet...! Why?!
Alder: N...
Even if we can't understand each other, there's no reason to reject other ideas!
Humans don't quarrel for the sole purpose of determining who is right... Please, think about that.
(Alder and Cheren take Ghetsis away. Mother 3 Love Theme plays - I mean, uh...)
N: ...There's something I want to talk to you about.
When I first met you back in Accumula Town...
I heard the voices of your Pokémon, and they shocked me...
Why do these Pokémon...
Why do they claim to be... fond of you...?
They said they wanted to be with you...
...I couldn't comprehend.
That there were Pokémon in this world who liked people...
I had no knowledge of such Pokémon until that moment...
And from then on, as my journey continued, my feelings swayed...
Pokémon and people were all selflessly joining their hearts to help each other...
So I wanted to fight you, to ascertain my belief... I wanted to face you as a fellow hero. That I desired...
I considered only Pokémon... no, only those poor Pokémon I had known, even...
I should never have opposed you when you were surrounded by Pokémon who love you...
N: ...Well, the Champion has forgiven me, but...
My life is now in my own hands...
(N lets Zekrom out of his Poké Ball.)
White!!

[If you answered no to "Do you share my dream?" in Chargestone Cave]
You... must have dreams!
Believe in them, and walk whatever paths to fulfill them! And someday, surely, your dreams shall be realized!!

[If you answered yes]
You said you had a dream... That dream... must be realized!
Your wonderful dreams, your ideals... have the power to change the world!
White! You can do it!!

Well, then...
Farewell...!

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

I'll be right back after I finish this essay about Pacman and the advocacy of drugs.

Well why did you come in here to say that if what you are doing has nothing to do with the topic?

Can I seriously ask WHY are people so fucking mean to me? I want an honest truth I am not out to put anyone else down or bring negativity to the forums. I have someone in here saying they hope nobody agrees with me and clearly what I posted is true because I have the scripts above. I mean if someone disagrees state why and what you interpreted the storyline was about. There IS a storyline its more then just catching and battling.

I seriously don't go in other threads and make people feel the shitty way others have made me feel most of the time i post somewhere other then politics. For once I want to be treated with respect thats ALL I ask I have been doing my hardest to do the same for others. I mean I have recent threads this year in hot topic where I get slammed for no reason and get hostile responses. Corny has been indirectly making fun of me for god knows how long and Im SO sick of it. He does it within the border of his limits he's made jokes about Shows I've watched or my interests the indirect remarks are tiresome.

I am not the only one who's been put down I've seen someone talk about a friend who got HIV and they totally got mistreated within this year here on JUB why can't the members on this forum love eachother right now? If you want love and acceptance for who you are it starts in the smallest places you know?

Re: Morals Behind Pokemon's Black & White

I can repeat all what I said in the word of others that you didn't attack for it:
it's a video game

I am sorry that you are unable to make the move from pacman to your topic nor see the parallels that this oversimplified illustration has with what you tried to deduct from pokemon. By the way, ever had a look at the Japanese healthcare system?

I won't even bother replying to the rest of your poor-me post
