  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Political correctness will destroy the free world

I fear that many online readers become more extreme as they read and view more and more extreme propaganda about various "opposition" forces.

Special interest groups have helped desegregate campuses, improved equality and provided safe environments for gay students.

Civil rights groups that were successful in the past were all about contemporary civil rights, notably civil rights other citizens already had. Changing the language was sometimes part of it.

The PC groups just pose as civil rights groups and attack other citizens for using inoffensive words, campaign for banning harmless festivals and blame contemporary citizens for historical situations that happened when their grandparents weren't born yet.

I was wondering how JUB was managing to skip over the gigantic University controversy that people everywhere here have been talking about.

Weeks went by, and not a peep. I mean, the story is classic JUB fodder.

I thought maybe we'd tired of it, or matured or found new topics or something.

Everything in the news here is about Paris and Brussels.

An Extreme far left liberal in America is the equivalent of a Social Democrat in the UK.

NO.

You'll find they're exactly the same, and every bit as extreme, as the very militant fringes of Labour, and the ranks of the Socialist Workers Party (or whatever they call themselves)

There is no difference whatsoever.

He seems to have an issue with American College students.

As I said in my earlier post, my issue is not so much with the students themselves, more with the extreme closed-minded blinkered ideology that they are taught by a small number of instigators and agitators.

Colleges and universities are supposed to be about teaching students a balanced, rational set of skills for objective reasoning and insight, NOT a mass political/social indoctrination project by extremist liberals and the hardline propagandists of the far-left.

Meh. All kinds of interest groups have existed over the years including moralists, men's rights, segregationists, religionists. They're all advocating their own cause, doesn't mean they're effective or get any wider acceptance.

Campaigning for something and succeeding at something are two different things. Unreasonable bans don't last in free societies, doesn't mean you can't oppose and ridicule idiots (you just can't shut them up arbitrarily).

It bothers me that PC people who pose as civil rights campaigners actually campaign to infringe upon the rights of others.

I'm not saying their aren't other marginal groups who want to infringe upon those rights, but those groups tend to claim to a far lesser degree that their program is universal.

There are many very smart famous comedians who do social commentary---sometimes not PC---who refuse to play at colleges anymore--even when they are enthusiastically invited---because they have been booed by the PC police in the audience. You can tell them to fuck off just so many times---they don't bother to play many colleges---Chris Rock and Bill Maher are two.

Granted though. There are people who think that just because someone is a comedian everything they say is comedic. Comedians can be outright dicks or insensitive as well.

Again I know some people are over sensitive at times, but the are people on the other side of the fence who go "too far."

I find it difficult to believe that your perception is accurate when apparently you have neither visited the U.S., or an American university, much less enough American universities to form a fair and representative view.

Your attack just comes across as rhetoric.

Why should anyone believe you know your subject here?

What was your own experience in university like? Where?

No, they are not. It's very different here and you know it. Same as how conservatives here aren't as extreme as the Republicans.

That's a lie.

Ha the cheek of a UKIP voter calling anyone else extreme.

Too bad what most people consider "PC" means not using racist, homophobic, sexist, etc terms. Yea there are people that go over board with being "PC", but it is not the majority.

And free speech is fine and all but people definitely don't like when free speech is directed at them.

That's pretty much exactly what it means 99% of the time.

People censor me for my extreme broad-brush black-and-white viewpoint and try to force me to acknowledge that virtually no such group profiling is ever fair or accurate for a group that may include millions of people, fuck this PC shit.

One of the most common things you hear people say in response to political correctness is "I call a spade a spade." No, you don't. You say that every single tool is a spade, no matter what tool it is, and "everyone knows it, we just aren't allowed to say it."

What you are seeing on American college campuses now is the true end product of the extreme far-left liberal ideology gone out of control. It is being taken to a point now that almost borders on communism. What we see is their agenda for the whole country, in a microcosm.

lol. I went to one of the most "infamously" left-wing universities in the U.S., and was never once in my life ever told, led, pushed or required by any professor in any course I ever took "what to think" politically. Maybe I have been brainwashed to forget the part where I was dragged down to the underground indoctrination chambers and tortured.

I repeat what I told you in CE&P. Before you accuse the whole rest of the world of comic book levels of indoctrinated bias for not agreeing with you perhaps you need to examine your own first.

I'm sorry. Your post is too funny for me not to comment.

Do you think any brainwashed person would ever be aware that he was brainwashed? If he recognized that he was brainwashed, then he wasn't brainwashed. Get me?

I'll make it more simple. Do crazy people know they are crazy? Why don't we ask crazy people to diagnose themselves?

I think that telling people to read an enormous amount of reading from a huge variety of sources and then having them write a 20 page paper with citations making both sides of an argument is not "brainwashing."

People who think anywhere outside of Christian or religious universities that you go in and simply are told what to think about everything are ignorant in the extreme. They have never been to college or they are happy to listen to what Fox news and people around the water cooler "tell them" about how college actually works.

The fact that the greater scope, more detail, and more research you do into a specific issue will quickly divert you away from comic book villain black and white viewpoints about the world is simply a fact of being educated, and it's what right-wingers call "liberal indoctrination."
