Political trolling

Its fun to watch the circus from a far.

Telstra, do you have right wing loonies in Australia like we do in the USA? People who are so out of touch they wouldn't know reality if it hit them in the face? Is there a group of politicians in Australia who sell themselves to the big corporations?

Do you have idiots similar to Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Glen Beck who spread hate and fear and demagogue their way to the bank?

Yes, we sure have some circus freaks here in the USA.

Not really. A current Australian prime Minister is an atheist and proud of it.
People will laugh at any leaders who pray god publicly.

Australian media is very open minded about sex, nude and stuff like that.

If I am a political troll, please please please whatever you do...... don't send Rachel Maddow after me.

How much did the RNC pay you and spacedog to infiltrate internet discussion boards or did you swear an oath of loyalty?

But seriously.

offtopic:

As a long time member/volunteer moderator of this sub forum, I see this statement quite often:

Why do the Moderators and the Admin of this website allow trolls to post here?
I've stated this before, and I'll state it again:

Why do we allow "trolls?"

Because they're not breaking the rules.

They're baiting you. They're trying to push your buttons. They want to get a rise out of you. They want to force you to break the rules.

The challenge in posting in CE&P is being able to accurately determine who the trolls are, and who genuinely has an opposing view.

A lot of us originally came into this forum thinking "How could anyone disagree with my perspective as a Gay Man?"

Well some of those "trolls" aren't really trolls, they honestly view their world a certain way.

The CE&P Posting Guidelines were put together, not just for decorum's sake, but to give everyone a chance to express themselves in a civil manner.

The volunteer Mods of JUB can either be "heavy handed" in how we Moderate / Enforce those guidelines or we can try to work to make participating in the JUB Community as positive as an experience as possible.

We can't do that by ourselves. We count on the members to assist us with that.

The CE&P sub-forum was created to take all of the obvious "political" threads/discussion, and the Current Events worthy of discussion that were being out-weighed by poop threads, and Britney Spears out of Hot Topics. ..|

As has been pointed out in this thread a lot of us come here to relax and discuss the day's news and issues that might have an impact on us all, and hopefully to see and to share some perspectives from outside our own geographical realms.

"Trolls" are really difficult for many of us to identify primarily because so many of those who being identified as being trolls (in the classical internet-sense) here in CE&P appear to be so bad at actually being trolls.

If you asked me personally I'd say that 1.0 percent of the 1/3rd of the posters of CE&P identified as trolls are dumb as a bag of hammers, 1.0 percent couldn't find their way out of a paper bag with a flashlight, map, and an iPhone GPS navigation system, and another 1.0 percent couldn't remember their password to log onto JUB if it weren't for their web server remembering it for them.

Seriously.

And what's even more shocking as a Mod of this website, are the number of members who are quick to point out a "troll" while being the first members to fill up the "slop bucket" to feed them. ](*,)

The Moderators of JUB are a diverse group; Germany, Australia, the U.K., Canada, Parts of China (), California, New Jersey, and the part that LBJ "lost for a generation" when he signed the "Civil Righs Act of 1964." :p

~

The three Moderators of CE&P are even more diverse politically. ..|

And there are two things that the three of us agree upon without argument:
  1. Ensuring that JustUsBoys.com is an environment where a diversity of opinion, personal experience, perspective, and being a place where one can express themselves is a safe and open place to be.
  2. That we personally appreciate the perspectives and background from which the three of us come from, and we celebrate our humanity together as Gay Men, and collectively work together as Moderators of CE&P, and with the whole of the JUB Mod Team to make sure that everyone is given fair and equal treatment.
There's no "politics" in how we collectively "moderate" JUB.

It's pretty safe to say that "trolls" aren't welcomed anywhere, and in any forum here on JUB.

Being that the volunteer membership of JUB out numbers the all volunteer "Mod Team" we only have the Code of Conduct, the Terms of Service, and in this sub-forum the CE&P Posting Guidelines from which to regulate with.

We count on the Membership across every forum of JUB to help us out in doing that.

And they do an AMAZING job helping us to protect the JUB Community from those who either are unaware of the rules, don't care about the rules, or who want to bring this entire website down.

CE&P aside, JUB is a really cool place to be "Gay" especially if you don't live in a place where it's okay to be Gay.

From where I sit in Central Texas, the NYC Gays and the LA Gays think that they know what it's like to be "Gay In America."

From rareboy's two links that began this thread:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)#cite_note-mit-8

http://www.sarahconnorfans.com/page/Internet+Troll+/+Forum+Troll

Those two links are JUB Moderation 101.

As volunteer Moderators we're expected to know the effed up shit that some posters are capable of, and why they do it, and its one of the reasons why they have X number of posts when they join to prove to us that they are who they say that they are.

Beyond that, especially in CE&P, it becomes a "majority view" versus a "minority perspective."

I can remember a time when even "Libertarian" perspectives were called into question
.

Even in other forums here it doesn't take a "college degree" to figure out from a "member's" first thread that they're "trolling."

Or that their posts have any factual merit.

But yet (!w!) a large percentage of members climb on board, and the :jasun: begins!

The volunteers who Moderate JUB aren't "baby sitters."

Despite that fact that only the "trolls" complain that we're too heavy handed, we pretty much allow the membership here to moderate themselves and each other.

With just a few caveats of course. ;)

Great thread RB!(*8*)

And the trollers are off! Let the cycle of trolls trolling trolls begin. What ever happened to DNFTT?

I am just a normal dude CowboyBob, wouldn't mind sharing a cup of coffee with you sometime. And perhaps something more. ;)

You could invite CowboyBob over to your house for coffee. But which house would it be? The one in Florida, Georgia or Seattle?

I think only the house in Florida has hidden cameras in the bedroom so that he could record his boyfriend having sex with some trick. *rolls eyes*.

Don't all normal dudes have this kind of set-up?

"Dear Penthouse Editors; Though I have read and enjoyed the letters in Penthouse's Forum section for many years, I must admit that, until now, I had always thought they were made up. It just seemed too much of a stretch of credulity to believe that they are true, real-life tales of actual readers. Before I go any further, let me first describe myself and my friend and camping buddy, Jake. We are both in our mid-20s, and are extremely muscular and athletic, with tanned, sculpted bodies, luscious locks of blonde hair, and tight, shapely buns..."

I find it amusing when people respond to trolls, over and over and over again.

Really?

I love this often used quote

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

the unfortunate side effect is that there is little discussion after a thread is taken over by the whole troll/trolled discussion.

so I post very little here, but I read a lot.

A good game is to count how many posts a thread has before it becomes a troll fest

I agree with your whole post. Someone wrote me and said that some of the "enablers" and the "trolls" might be the same users. They joined JUB around the same time, already uploaded photos and are constantly talking with one another and keeping dead trolling threads alive when others aren't responding

I'm not too sure. But these points are undeniable.

Well I don't think I am baiting anyone or trying to push anyone's buttons.

I am just simply being the voice for the other side of the argument.

That way people who read these posts can make up their own mind.

The "people who read these posts" are gay people or gay-friendly people. Therefore, the "people who read these posts" would prefer it if you would stop giving voice to absurdity and ignorance.

This has to be the funniest thread started here in a long time. And that is saying something.

Anyone who doesn't agree with a left-wing agenda is a troll.

Bookmark this thread because whenever you need a laugh, you can reread this.

Lord have mercy. justapixel admitted he's a troll.

LMAO! Don't forget that your family members murder gay people, as you fly in first class talking about fisting with Hollywood stars, while you have cameras set up in your bedroom and living room to "catch" your boyfriend of 2 weeks, cheating on you, all the while being an uber-Republipuke and adult baby diaper lover. I mean it's such the classic American story.

LMAO! I wonder if these people are allowed to ever leave their guard duty, under their bridges. Things that make you go, "Hmmmmm............."

I have to admit I'm no good at detecting trolls. I tend to grant everyone the benefit of the doubt, and as a result don't see crap coming till it's too late. In the real, that's brought me a good deal of grief.
