Pope says condoms make AIDS worse

Yet another example of religion's extremely distorted view of sexuality.

The Pope prefers the spread of AIDs to the possibility that someone might have illicit sex. Catholic politics and Catholic dogma have led to Catholic leaders with an impaired moral sense, if not a downright evil agenda.

I fucking loath this cunt. I'd say "Don't worry, he'll be dead soon," if it weren't for the fact that he'll be immediately be replaced by another bead-ratteling fuckwit. The UN needs to set up a very public, well funded global body to refute everything this arsehole and his minions say on this subject. They don't give a fuck about human life. They are happy to see the spread of disease and death so that thier religious sentiments are not disobayed. They make me fucking sick.

Well without saying some of the stupid things that some of you have said, I will say, as a Catholic, that I disagree with the church's stance on condoms, and particularly with the Pope's comments. A lot of Catholics similarly disagree with the church on this and don't follow that stance. The problem here is that the Pope is speaking in Africa, where condom use is already low and HIV rates are extremely high. Many in the 3rd world are more likely to strictly follow the church's teachings, so this could have a negative impact. I really hope the church changes it's stance on condoms, but I don't see it happening with this Pope.

How dangerously out of the loop can a religious leader be?
Maybe if the Pope stepped out of his palace and mixed with gen pop like Mother Theresa did, he'd know that concessions have to be made for the preservation of human life.

Mate, Mother Theresa wasn't any better than that nazi scumbag. She said, during her acceptance speach for her utterly undeserved nobel peace prize that the biggest threat to world peace was not war, fammine, disease or nuclear winter...surprise, surprise, it was abortion. These idiots live in bubbles and even genuine concern for human well-being (of which, from what I've read, old theresa had none,) is often warped and distorted, or outright abandoned, in the pursuit of doctrinal enforcement. I know I'll be long dead by the time the vatican lies in ruins but...christ it would be good to see.

The pope goes to an HIV/AIDS-ravaged part of the world and tells them basically not to use condoms because they make it worse. Seems like he's the only one saying stupid things around here. We here on JUB can all say what we want, but are we actually hurting / killing people with our words or actions in these forums? I think not.

The pope believes that he has all the answers to all the questions of the world (most being answered simply as "god's will" or "god did it"), and it is that arrogance of knowledge that his religion perpetuates upon its followers which allows them to believe fictional stories as literal, absolute truths, corrupting their judgment, clouding their reason, and inevitably leading to these kinds of actions and statements that are intentionally harmful but are not thought of as such by those who justify it under the guise of following god's word. Any person of reason can see that for what it really is: insanity. A person that listens to god is just as delusional as the person who listens to talking dogs, but instead of it being abnormal hormone functions of the brain (schizophrenia) it is a self induced delusion, no, even worse, an active, willful, wanted self induced delusion.

Yes i just so happen to watch channel 4 news (UK) yesterday & 2 woman were on there & the 1 lady got out of control calling the anchor a liar.
Being catholic, i just let all those battles go on, theres nothing we can do to , but pray & hope that we are heard, both women had valid points, but who's to say which had the most facts !

I honestly miss the last pope(or was it the one before last??), at least he was somewhat progressive with his opinions, as opposed to our Nazi friend here.

You mean the one that wasn't a homophobic, god-fearing creationist? Yeah, I liked him too.

I feel very uneasy about the former Nazi going to black populaces ravaged by this disease and spreading this nugget of "truth" around.

I wish a big space giant would appear and flick him off the planet like a booger.

I will no doubt be branded as a cynic for what I am about to say (fair enough, I am), but I wouldn't expect any change of stance from the Catholic Church any time soon.

More condoms = less births.
Less births = less Catholics.
Less Catholics = less revenue, less influence, diminishing importance.

It ain't gonna happen - the Catholic hierarchy are all rooted (pun intended) in the Middle Ages for obvious and predictable reasons (which have nothing to do with humanity and common sense).

Of course his position is unacceptable. But it isn´t new. All popes said that. So, it isn´t a special Benedict-thing. It´s the position of the catholic curia.
But it is unacceptable too to call Benedict a Nazi. He never was a Nazi (he was 6 years old when Hitler became "the Führer"), he did what all young peolpe had to do in that times. Or did you call him Nazi because he is German? That is also unacceptable.

In Africa they didn´t hear what he said about condoms. One woman said: "We hope he will say something about poverty. That is our problem. Condoms? Okay, it´s his opinion - we don`t think so.
We need words against our leaders!"

I don't call him a nazi for either of those reasons. I call him a nazi because he's a vile, authoritarian piece of shit that heads an organisation that regularly and overtly tries to subvert the authority of elected governments to suit thier ends, as well as stoking up bigotry and intolerance against us, and attempting to role back the rights of women, among many other things. The tag "nazi" is more than acceptable, it's neccessary.
