Pope aide pulls out of trip after 'Third World' jibe

A senior Papal adviser has pulled out of the Pope's UK visit after saying arriving at Heathrow airport was like landing in a "Third World" country.

Cardinal Walter Kasper reportedly told a German magazine the UK was marked by "a new and aggressive atheism".

^ There has been a lot of indifference, ambivalence, and even criticism by the British to the Pope's visit.

The Pope will be spending most of the day in Scotland tomorrow.

He will take part in the St Ninian's Day Parade through Edinburgh in the Popemobile, travelling from Regent Road and along Princes Street.

Open-air mass at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow - the largest organised event of the trip. An invited audience of up to 100,000 people is expected to attend the event, which organisers say will cost up to £1.5m to put on. Each pilgrim has been encouraged to give a contribution of £20.

^ Note the last sentence.

And you can give me the 100,000 people who went to Preston Park for Brighton Gay Pride any day. pride:

Well said. I'm pretty sure that's a regular activity on Thursday Nights tho.

"popemobile" lol

I hope Richard Dawkins is there to tell him to fuck off.

Guess again.

Whilst on many census readings say 10 years ago 72% would register Christian/Catholic; a whopping 66% of the population have no religious affiliation.

They only right that down for official form purposes.

Well, I really don't think that Joseph Ratzinger (I wont call him by that other name) has any right being in a Public Park for a Mass. How much is the Scottish government having to pay for his presence there? The vatican should be reimbursing the government for the costs occured to it.

If this man, and I will say man because he is fallible and imperfect like the rest of us, was such a respectable and well like person, he wouldn't have to drive around in a several inch thick bulletproof glass car. Just saying...

I'm lolling like a motherfucker.

atheism = gooood.

pope no likey = even fucking better.

To Herr Ratzinger's credit, he always looks coherent and purposeful compared to Mr. Williams of the Anglican racket. Actually the anglicans are less of a racket and more just atheists who don't want to give up the dresses and the stained glass.
