Porch Pirate Problems?

Despite getting frequent deliveries, I've never had a package stolen. I live in a safe, established, suburban community where everybody knows everybody. Not a prime target for porch pirates.

It's a bizarre phenomenon to those of us in other countries.
If I have an item delivered, it has to be handed to me personally, otherwise it isn't regarded as delivered.

It's why I usually try to get any packages delivered to my Post Office box; where the Post Office holds package or puts it in one of those parcel lockers for me to access at my leisure. Unfortunately, not every online shipping entity allows P. O. boxes for delivery

The shipping company is essentially abandoning your property - the care of which they have been entrusted with until it is in your possession. How are they not sued for breach of contract?

Most people work all day and have no one at home to sign for a package. I’ll occasionally get something that’s shipped by FedEx and they’ll leave a note and I have to pick up the parcel at the FedEx shipping center. Every other deliver service will leave my parcel at the back door.

Once. Recently.
I suspect it was my next door neighbour. They tried it before but, as it was a plant, passed it on as they had no use for it.
This time a book went missing. Amazon said it was posted through my letter box. But I was in at the time. They replaced FOC

I have never had anything stolen, but a few times my items were left at the wrong address. I always got my stuff though.

It is becoming a major problem in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. They have actually caught cars following the Amazon delivery van around and stealing the packages after the van pulls away.

I have never had anything go missing - but myself and my neighbors all keep an eye out for each other and will grab packages left on the neighbors porch until they get home.

Not yet, but I had a package that they erroneously delivered to a neighbor, who gave it to me.

I've never had a package stolen. But have had package delivered several times over the years, delivered to the next door neighbor's house. No one was home there either at the time.

Yes. Back in the day, Amazon used to replace items without much fuss. Now their response is "we'll go find it".
