Roman committed suicide- drugs and depression seem to plague porn- we tend to idolize them here, but to chose that life, you have to be a little messed up to begin with

Saying someone is messed-up because they do porn is . . . messed up. Guys do porn mainly because it's relatively easy money and secondarily because it may be something they enjoy doing.

Based on the little snippets I've read on his blog and tumbr, this guy had body dysmorphic issues up the wazoo. Porn was probably how he paid for his kit. I've often wondered how many of the gay4payers do porn for the same reason.

I don't know why but i am genuinely shocked and saddened by his death. I have been reading his blog and it is filled with loneliness, depression and hopelessness. Yet i could see (from what i read on the blog) a decent person beneath all that. It is such a shame it seemed like no one could reach out to him and he was intent on killing himself. I was shocked by this yesterday. I think performers have a need to feel special. Adored.Loved. Sadly, for many it is never enough. I hope he has found peace, unfortunately, recently he posted a pic of his twin brother who had been getting in great shape and he posted he was proud of him, i guess because he was doing it naturally without Steroids. I can't imagine the pain his twin is in right now.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones.

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised at this tragic turn of events. His life was going a downward spiral.

I remember reading the interview he gave "The Sword" in late February. You can feel the depression, hopelessness, and darkness in his responses. It was unfortunately very prophetic.

It appears Erik Rhodes even did some mainstream print advertising too.

He posed for an advertisement in 2008 for the grand opening of "Loehmann's: The Men's store" location at the Beverly Connection/ Beverly Center near West Hollywood, an area that has a lot of gay men, who the store knew would recognize Erik Rhodes in the advertisement.

I am truly sad that he has died. He was an incredible sex performer and that is all I knew of him. I think that many of us owe porn performers more than we are willing to admit. Two things i find interesting or distressing rather:
1/ fisting: It was like self harm to deal with feeling down.
My question is, do people who want to be fisted because they are depressed and want to deal with it via fisting ?

It was a shock, but not really a surprise. Death hovered over him like a shadow. It was his friend. Rest in peace, indeed. Maybe now he'll have the peace he never seemed to have when he was alive.

He just pushed that beautiful body too hard with all the recreational drugs, partying, and steroids.

Erik Rhodes is NOT dead! I just saw him today as I was walking through Penn Station in NYC. His previously reported death was evidently some sort of publicity stunt or a way for him to publicly "escape" his porn persona. He is obviously alive and well and, apparently for now, present in NY.

Something strange did occure a few weeks ago though with his Tumblr blog. It got taken down shortly after his death but then randomly was back up for a few days and just before it was taken down again there was a post supposedly from Erik Rhodes. It was something like "it was always going to end up like this, don't bother saying what if, i was already dead when i wrote this". I thought that was strange.

Wow. Posting unverifiable statements like this is not cool at all. Unless you know the family and know for sure it was him then you shouldn't post such things as fact. He has a twin and Erik's death as covered by the NY Times, i'm sure they did their homework before printing a story about him and his death.

They did interview friends and his twin brother. But, yeah he was so Elvis. I should contact 60 minutes and have them start an investigation into the possible Pulitzer prize inning story of a Pornstar faking his on death so he wouldn't have to deal with the paparazzi hounding him everyday and posting the every little of his life all over the net. This way he don't have to worry about being in the public eye.

But, one would have to wonder would he start blogging again about the every detail of his life and attracting the attention of the public eye, that he didn't want when he was officially "Alive".
