I'm not sure if this should go into the Current Events, or in here, but here goes anyway ... The headlines today reveal that millions of videos have been removed from Pornhub due to alleged child content. However, I know for a fact that several vids I've looked at lately, where no kids are in evidence, have been removed. One was a scene from "Guys Kissing Guys" and the second screen shot below shows what you get now, instead of two grown men having a snog. The article mentions organisations that are anti-porn altogether and which would clearly like to see sites like Pornhub closed down completely. Maybe they should advocate a complete ban on all sexual activity in private, of whatever nature, and where there are no cameras present. At least it would be a logical move by the anti-sex brigade! ...

It’s pretty crazy. I’m not sure I like the idea of credit card companies making decisions like that in case they start saying “oh we’ll stop people buying alcohol or spending at gay bars too” but obviously this situation was very severe and pornhub 100% should have been punished for it

Lots of good stuff is gone

Exactly. I'd uploaded a few clips myself, nothing involving kids, needless to say, so I queried it with their support line. Here's their reply, though it's not clear to me what "compliant content" actually means in practice ...

Wow I remember reading about this when Visa and Mastercard first talked about blacklisting Pornhub, but I did not think Pornhub would go scorched earth route and delete millions of unrelated videos in response.

I think Pornhub's first response at the time was that child porn on their site is actually a tiny fraction of the total amount in circulation, and that something like Facebook with its closed groups actually has way more going on. If that's the case, I find it incredibly hypocritical for Visa and Mastercard to focus on Pornhub rather than going after the big targets. Smacks of a cheap morality ploy.

Yeah, I agree. It's really an over-reaction.

This is having a snowball effect.
I went to some other sites using my typical search terms and got 0 results....... :eek:

Several items against porn hub-
-publicity of high profile news reports (New York times etc) of porn hub not responding to take down revenge or underage or non consensual videos without the subjects in the videos having to get lawyers involved;

-downloading from the site allowing the illegal videos to get quickly saved and then reposted later;

- then anti- porn groups getting involved behind the prior issues and then working to influence master card/visa "to save the children". This is similar to what happened to BDSM social networking website FetLife in 2017 that then forced exclusions of some more of the raunchy/ disgusting yet legal between consensual adults fetishes from the website; back then some predicted future use of mc/visa against mainstream porn websites and its coming true now. Don't think that the anti porn groups will ever stop using money as a weapon.

-probably future lawsuits by victims especially ones who had to complain multiple times because porn hub wasn't adequately reviewing content uploads for repeatingly uploaded illegal content;

-money the above issues of continuous control of content that porn hub never developed or purchased technology to parse content nor employed human or enough human intervention in reviewing videos that were flagged by users or others as illegal or copyright violations;

- copyright issues from pirated porn videos and otherwise videos posted- without interventions a huge amount of videos were of questionable copyright sources;

-consent issues for all persons showing in videos. Professional porn has to maintain legal documentation as to ages and consensual sex of all people in videos. Its a blurry line if an independent individual videos a scene or hook up verbally saying "for private use only, don't worry i won't post it " and later posts the video to the internet without the other people's knowledge

So the porn hub's ownership just threw out the bambino of huge amounts private legal content out with the bath water of minimal illegal content just "make it stop" and potentially kiss the assess of visa/master card to get money flowing again. Maybe they want to go after legal and verified content creators to try and serve as an "only fans" type video hosting service for private and commercial content creators

I personally had an Xtube (owned by pornhub since 2010s) profile from 2007-8ish with just 3 profile pictures since about 2009 (not showing my face) and they deleted all 3 pictures along with gutting all X-tube 's content.

Its a sad day that lost all this content that is gone but the ethical issues remain .

There needs to be a thread where amateur guys who had their own videos deleted can tell if their videos get restored.

I have videos posted on both Pornhub and Xtube. None of my videos on Pornhub were deleted, but 41 videos on Xtube were deleted. Any time I do a video with a guy, I always get a signed release and identification proof. My videos deleted on Xtube were all so random. For instance, I had 5 videos with one guy, and 2 of the videos were deleted, but the other 3 were left alone. I contacted Xtube about the deletion, and was told that Xtube maintains the right to delete videos "at our discretion." I was also told my videos were deleted because they were tagged as "obscene." Obscene?? Really?? It's a porn site for god's sake, not Disney!
