How do you try to get yourself out of a deep depression?

Acknowledging it is the first step. I would seek medical advice as there are a great number of medications that will greatly ease the process.

There's a park in my hometown that I absolutely love. I do mental trips through. A few days ago I found my 'worry' stone, which is a small rock I picked up out of the creek. I hold it while doing the trip. Sometimes it's headphones on and listening to music for several hours. Used to be that I'd just climb in the car and go for a drive with nowhere in mind. Just got out and drove.

No longer able to drive so that last one is out for me.

If it persists, get in to see your doctor.

The key word in the sentence is "deep". If you're having a deep depression and it's something that has persisted, you should discuss it with your physician.

It hasn't happened yet. My mother is dying and I have a feeling I am going to have another breakdown when she does. I do see a doctor in a couple days though.

Ive found many doctors are incredibly depressed as well.

Talk therapy, sunshine and exercise are vital.

Your first visit should be with a Psychiatrist, they a lot more training and knowledge about depression than a regular general practitioner. I've been treated by both.

I am handling it much better than I thought I would. I am actually doing really well.
