I like the little calendar in the corner and I searched for it last night. Seems to be Rainlender. I got the free lite version, which is customizable and seems to have an adequate set of functions.

Quite correct! It is the free version of Rainlender. I find it quite discreet and seems to fulfil all the functions I want. You can print off a list of events but unfortunately the layout isn't very precise taking up much more space than necessary. I must find a way of editing it.
