I live in a very classy neighborhood.

Ten city blocks northwest of the house in the foreground is where I have lived since 1978.

The neighborhood in the foreground has been going downhill lately (IMHO)! I hope your area has fared beter!!

Downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. My place of birth and current residence, although I consider all of Colorado to be home:

Garden of the Gods. A city park in the middle of Colorado Springs, with Pikes Peak (14,110') in the background:

Downtown Denver. I love Denver ... 10th largest downtown in America and a very easy big city to manage:

Boulder, Home of the Buffs and a famously liberal mindset:

Quintessential Colorado. This is the Maroon Bells (14,014') outside Aspen. Cher had a house in Aspen until the late 90s.

People in the US choose my neighbor every 4 years on the first Tuesday in November. Sometimes I am in agreement with the people and sometimes I am not in agreement with the people. The good news? ... The current neighbor is leaving in January, 2009.;)

Well, I live HERE:

Well I didn't think I'd do this, but I suppose I can. Mind you, this is my hometown, the one in which I grew up and gladly escaped as quickly as possible. First, as a frame of reference, let me show you where Leoti is.

From here:
Founded: 1886
Population: 1738
Elevation: 3305 feet

The name "Leoti" [pronounced Leo-ta] is somewhat of a mystery. Several theories have been offered:

1. Leoti is an Indian word that means "Prairie Flower."
2. Leoti was named after Mrs. Leoti Kibbee, an early local pioneer.
3. Leoti was named after Leoti Gray, the daughter of one of Leoti's founding fathers.

Leoti is famous as one of the participants in the bloodiest county seat fight in the history of Kansas. The Leoti-Coronado county seat fight was chronicled in the New York Times. Obviously, Leoti won and Coronado eventually became a ghost town.

Here's the museum, which used to be the city hall. It's literally two blocks from my parents' house.

I graduated high school with 38 other people. There were maybe 120 students in all four classes that year. Here's a picture of the main winter excitement in town. I can't even tell which team is ours, but judging from the building in the background, I'm going to say we're in the white.

A tornado picture from 1999. I haven't lived in Leoti since 1992, but, sadly, I can tell you exactly where this was taken just by looking at it.

And one last photograph of a beautiful sky.

The place of dreams, the place of danger, the place of hope, the place of magnificent beauty...
...the place of my home.
