I just got a brazillian butt wax for the second time yesterday. The first time was about 3 months back, I had a bit of sensitivity and redness for a couple of days. I panicked and went to the derm (very embarrassing), she looked at it, said its nothing, gave me an ointment for tinea cruris anyway (which I didn't apply) and the redness went away by itself.

The session last night was surprisingly more painful than last time. The therapist came to my place, thoroughly washed his hands, but he may have been double dipping in the wax he brought with himself. I'm more sensitive than last time, and upon examining the area, there is a lot of redness. There was a little bit of bleeding as well.

Should I just wait it out, and perhaps apply a mild otc hydrocortine cream - or should I make another (very) embarrassing visit to the derm.

ps. After i got waxed the last time, sex was incredible. I want to continue to get waxed once or twice a year, but am afraid of any complications developing. Please help!

Apply some hydrocortisone cream, take a pain reliever, and relax.

You have pretty common side effects from waxing. Keep it clean, sweat free, and maybe apply some soothing ointment. It can take days to weeks and even months for it to resolve. If you wax so often in that area, might as well consider permanent hair removal options like laser or electrolysis.

Thanks guys, I've attached the pictures now. If you're so inclined :P

There are calming creams that you can use that seem to help. You can find them at beauty supply stores (like Ulta or Sephora in US- not sure about Dubai).

The next time you get waxed, tell the aesthetician that you get very irritated by the wax. Some aestheticians will use powder or other preps on the skin so that the wax doesn't adhere to the skin.

Over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream is also an option.

Its almost been a year since I wrote this one - and well, I've been at it again. I have gotten the brazillian once or twice since that post with no issues, but i got another one yesterday and it has me worried since its quite red.

I had the therapist wash his hands with anti-bacterial soap, and then an alcohol-based sanitizer. The wax and machine he used for just for me (i bought it after my previous post) as the therapist comes to my place for the waxing.

I'm really scared of developing any infections down there, and this redness and irritation has me sick with worry. Here are some non-sexy pictures of my bum:

Should I apply some Fucidin or Fucidin H? I have already washed it with Betadine Skin Cleanser to try and fend off any infection.

What should I do? Help!

ps. Every time I get waxed, I tell myself I won't get it again, but my bf loves it and it really turns me on as well...so I get up getting it a couple of times in a year (2 or 3)

There's no reason to use betadine. A mild soap and water should be enough to clean the area. Given that you've had some issues with sensitivity in the past, you should probably consider using a powder before the wax is applied, followed by cold towels and then covering the area with hydrocortisone cream.

Thanks kara. I guess I'll wait this one out and just keep it dry and clean.

I have had my back and ass and crack/hole waxed...it is an amazing feeling, butt...I invariably break out in a rash or have ingrown hairs or whatever.....Used to have an Asian guy that did it...and me...in his salon in Melbourne, AU....More recently, I have gone and had a female professional do it at an upscale salon in SF...same thing....I get some dude to shave me every coupla months...ther waxing thing is not for me...although, they use different wax on your hole and crotch, and I don't find in painful....not pleasant, but not painful....

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's been two weeks now and itch. Not red tho. But the post waxing sex is so hot that it's almost worth it. I hope it gets normal soon though. Last time the discomfort only lasted a few days.
