Handsome you.

Indeed, a right smasher.

Tired and in pain... I'm dealing with insertional Achilles tendinitis and I had to do a lot of walking around downtown today so, the heel (and my wonky knee) is giving me some serious grief.

I also note that most of you will be absolutely HORrified by the beard. Run! RUUUUUNN! AAAAAAIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Ger, I'm sorry your foot and knee were in pain.

:) Oh, I don't think I'm THAT bad looking but the beard thread raised my eyebrows a titch.

I've had my beard since my mid-twenties so, about thirty five years. In and of itself, it was never a fashion statement. I grew it because frankly, I wanted to, and I liked, and continue to like it. Whether it appealed to others was, and is, of no interest to me. I didn't grow, nor continue to sport it, for them. It seems to have winnowed the field as-it-were, which is fine by me.

Posting my pic, knowing that some people are perhaps repulsed, actually appeals to my sense of humour believe it or not. Hence the screaming and commands to run or flee.

Thanks again. :)

If I could have you under my blankets right now...

Ok sorry about that

I also grow the beard for myself and not to impress others. Actually the type of men I like seem to prefer a smooth face. But I admit that it bothers me a bit when people make remarks about my beard or think I am following the fashion -_-'

Sometimes I feel more relaxed without, as I have less eyes on me. But I like myself better with the beard.

Yay! Fort!

Boo! No fort.

I hear you. Totes eye roll. ;)

I did have to shave mine off for a movie shoot I was an extra in back in 2000 or so. It was a period piece and beards were not what the vast majority of what most men were wearing at the time. Seeing my naked face in the mirror was a bit of a shocker as it'd been years and I'd devloped some jowels. Growing it back was a relief as it had become such a part of me that being without felt weird, unusual, bizzare, other worldly, twilight zonish, alternate realityish, confusing, perplexing, off putting, unsettling, creepy, odd, decidedly different, different, unreal, disassociative, troubling, worrying an' stuff like that there like.

As to eyes upon me. I rarely espy people eyeing me, even when I was younger and therefore MORE appealing and attractive than I am now. ;) However, I am a bit of a performer, so even if I did have people staring at me it wouldn't be that traumatic and experience. It's only traumatic when a fly is open, or drink/food has been noticeably spilled upon one's clothes. :)

Where can I see the movie? :)

I know that, when you shave after a long time the skin looks pale and feels weird like when you clip your fingernails too short. You touch them and they give you the shivers  I look different without the beard.

You could not be more attractive than now ;)

Yes it's not traumatic but it can be annoying. I've had strangers staring at me or calling me "sir". People I know never miss a chance to make the same old jokes, sometimes ending up being rude. Some gave me the impression they knew about the "bear culture" and I don't want to be associated with that... this is probably the main reason I shave my beard.

But they're not really deciding if I can sport it, obviously I still terrorize society with a thick beard. It's just that they won't understand that I have a beard because it grows too fast, the weather is cold and it looks awesome (especially under the sunlight).
