Post Debt ceiling poll: Obama up, Congress in the ditch

well then what are the other options. I am an independent voter who has to choose between one of two options.

Is it possible for a president to be elected right now that is not part of one of the parties?

Is it possible to elect enough non affiliated candidates who owe no party loyalty to even matter?

I think we need a real solution, and this is not going to be an easy maneuver.

We as voters have to figure out a way to fix our legislature because they simply cannot fix themselves.

what is realistic as to what can be done?

Honestly, while Obama seemed much more an "adult" than his opposition Republicans, I still think he is not the right President for this time. I actually believe Hilary would be the better choice. Depending on the Republican candidate, you can either vote for loonies or the incumbent, who has only proven to be mildly competent while you really need a very good leader in this times.

But I am generally rather satisfied with Obamas achievement in all fields except the economy/health care. DADT is gone, DOMA maybe on the way out, he made good first steps to improve several Federal Agencies, he got Osama and the situation in Afghanistan and Iraq seems to be stable enough to initiate a reduction in troop levels.

American voters are so screwed come 2012.

If anyone had any doubt, one more poll to indicate the rage the nation is feeling towards congress and who is to blame for the mess and fiasco that resulted in the GOP manufactured emergency.

Obama is back up to 48 percent approval rating, with a lower 47 percent disaproval. The GOP has 72 percent disaproval on how they handled the self created emergency.

It gets worse when you ask voters to compare the who was more responsible for the crisis....

Forty seven percent blame the republicans, and that would have to mean Boners crowd of teabaggers, while 29 percent lay the blame for the mess on the president and the dems.

GOPpers? Bad news guys.

You boys just bought yourself a broken economy. Hope it serves ya well as you pack your offices and say bye bye.

will the last tea bagger please catch the lights on their way out? ..|

If the tea baggers get voted out, that would be the best thing for this nation. Let's just hope that they don't swing the other way and vote in some far lefties either. We need some good ole' moderates in office to replace these nut jobs.

BTW; your poll is very optimistic, to say the least. Gallup has the president sitting at a 42% approval.

American's also hate the new budget deal.

So, while we should (hopefully) be rid of the tea partiers from Congress, this whole debacle may also take Obama out with them. (and from the looks of it, Boehner and some other leaders too)

A Pox on all their Houses.

Hopefully the voters will turn against all the incumbents, but we all know that isn't going to happen.

With gerrymandered districting, there will be virtually no change in seats there; the existing leadership will hang onto their seats in spite of, or perhaps because of the batshit crazies that the T-Baggers will try to run.

But Obama is going to lose the White House once Romney is the nominee.

Especially if Romney puts tax reform, military spending reform, and entitlement reform on the table. All of those things will win the moderates in both parties and the 'undecided' voters. People have been clear for a while that everything should be on the table; the candidate that vigorously pursues that will be the one to win the most votes.

I just hope people remember all of this when the 2012 elections roll around. I know I sure as hell won't forget.

Americans have notoriously short political memories.

On the national level, there are no options likely to be elected except Republicans and Democrats.

What we need is to elect small businessmen, people accustomed to handling accounts where the best way to pay bills is increase revenue, and who are familiar with cutting waste.

see this is how revolutions happen... future generations will think differently.

Stop focusing on political terms such as "left" and "right." Just view the government as an issue because you're screwed either way. Left and right are just manipulative terms they dont really have meaning. Our lives and standards of living are affected by the government.

A good way to start is not re-electing the same old people.

Cut off all the pension plans that Congressmen get.

Cut off their insurance.
