Post-Osama: what comes next?

Now just YOU wait a minute Mister..I 've seen these type of soy drinking, sushi eating, adopted Korean baby pushing(well,at least the Mexican Nannies they hire while Mom plunders Wall Street. pukes..( dinks..double income,no kids.)I share your disgust. They destroy every neighborhood they set foot in.They've destroyed my own native Brooklyn,Park Slope.Where were they when everyone was fucked up on heroin and crack? Upstate, thats where. Now they run us out of our own neighborhoods.Even a good looking guy like me is dismised as ''blue collar help.'' But,on a lighter note, the shithole my grandmother lived in since Roosevelt was President was sold to a web designer for over $500,000.-.God Bless them Yuppies..

Anyways, those type of liberals, the kind that don't eat meat, wont fuck their husbands, and certainly wont bear their children, and if they do,insist on giving them names like Brock...Well,they disgust me too..

It bothers me to be lumped into the same pile as these maggots..I wanna assault them..But-I can't.They own the City and have better lawyers..

Que sera sera..

must be saved for posterity

bury it in a trunk and place it well beneath the surface ;)

Toriko it wasnt very off as far as I can see. There have been folks wanting to hug the world to peace forever. It doesn't seem to work but that's their opinion. Just a short time ago the good Catholic church folks thought it was ok to stretch you until you told of your supposed sins. N ope the good church folk have been fucking it up for years. They are as bad sometimes as Osama. Look at the phelps looner.

Here, this bullshit: http://www.npr.org/2011/05/02/135927693/is-it-wrong-to-celebrate-bin-ladens-death?sc=fb&cc=fp

I love you, NPR, but you can take this article and go fuck yourself.

Bullshit? To caution against rejoicing over the death of another human?

I think not. It can too easily lead to what I see in too many places: the conviction that killing people is an okay way to solve problems.

Celebrate that justice has been done, that the head of a monster organization has been cut off -- but never develop a taste for killing your foes, nor a pleasure in it.

If we rejoice in death, we're on a course to converge with what Osama was.

they are bracing for a BIG retaliation apparently, and its being handled very quietly. Neapolitano just changed the alert code last week and that can't have been a coincidence.

Now they only tell you about exact threats when they learn information. The old threat level is gone. So far DHS has not released anything specific, just travel warnings and a reminder to be observant of packages and odd behaviors of people in public.

Well I posted the following on the Martyr thread, I think it really belongs here.

Been trying to think where to put this observation I had over the weekend. If this tape is going to start some violence somewhere I think it fits here.
Saturday the Naval Air station here started a routine security check, getting back to the base being secure. They started checking IDs at the gates to make sure all that entered belonged there.
You see anything unusual about this? Osama wasn't killed til Sunday, or it wasn't reported til Sunday. Were all bases contacted before the raid to let them know to watch for some terrorists possible coming around?

Out of curiosity. I have been in Security for quite some time and was quite unaware that bases did not check ID. They no longer require vehicle decals. But a valid Military ID was required. It hasn't been ID free since before 9/11

I do NOT celebrate the death of Bin Laden

I celebrate the justice brought to those he killed and the peace brought to the families of his past and future victims.

I celebrate a safer world be cause ONE MAN is dead.

Imagine that... how many men alive can make the entire planet more dangerous? Very Few.

Well, this is why we disagree--- the world isn't safer by any quantifiable measure because Osama is dead. In death as a martyr it could be the same or even worse.

in the short term perhaps, but terrorism has brands, and the Bin Laden brand just sunk down in the sea.

Bin Laden WAS planning to attack us. And the Intel from his computers when they shot his happy ass will lead us to even more pf the monsters.

I think the terror networks is going to be broken for a bit due to the intelligence gathered, but only time will tell.

Sorry to take so long in answering. Partner had shopping to do!
I really don't think it is because they didn't check IDs, The way they said it made me believe they were just kinda lax and was going to be more gung ho, if you will.
This morning traffic was backed up all along the causeway to the base. It hasn't happened like that for awhile.

Actually, YOU are THE one to ask this question since you are in security. Have you been notified to be prepared for anything. I'm talking about being notified before OBL was killed. My observation was just I haven't seen anything at our Naval base going into overdrive to check IDs.

if he knew...he couldnt tell you could he...pesky opsec....but i honestly dont understand why base security went up....on the day the announcement went out....i couldnt get my lifting buddy on base

What comes post-Osama depends in large measure on the way events continue to unfold from Tunisia to Syria to Yemen, and dare we hope, all points in between.

Incidentally, I do take delight in his death; viscerally, intellectually, and for pragmatic and strategic reasons. It does not make me any more likely to support the use of arbitrary violence on people. My only regret is that his corpse was delivered into the sea under the guise of a dignified muslim rite.

I would argue that
a) he was not muslim but merely professing a grotesque caricature of islam and thus profaning it
b) it seems strange that even real muslims would make any honourable provision for the corpse of one so repugnant, and;
c) the government has no reason to be conducting muslim events at sea.

The corpse should have just been dropped from the helicopter or something.

lets not forget that oneof Osamas main goals was to remove Mubarak from power.

The revolutions have made alot of terrorism outdated because the young people are learning that they can protest and have a better chance of living and enjoying life.

They are still dying. They are just not killing anymore.

That is a major change and Osama and his ILK have no place in their world.

I think one of the main concerns are sleeper cells that may be automatically activated by his death. Personally, I worry for the Olympics next year. It's a perfect opportunity to hit multiple nations at the same time.

In addition, Al-Qaeda - like the Islamic religion - isn't organised. Whilst AQ may have had OBL as it's figurehead, many smaller bombings were carried out independently 'in the name of AQ'. The first that OBL knew of them was from news reports - like we did.

Right now the most immediate threat will be by these lone operators that simply want to revenge his death. As was mentioned on an interview here earlier "An animal is often more dangerous when it's wounded." And right now Al-Qaeda is hurting...

As for policy, taking out OBL was just one objective. Whoever takes over from OBL will want to prove themselves to be the 'best man for the job', so really, we're back to square one...

European government is weak dealing with the root cause (political Islam).
I'm all for the nice caring islam but the government should ban political islam.

what would the wording of that law look like?

Muhammad was a warrior, a leader and a politician.
Osama was the same. He was a traditional muslim following the book.
