Quite the contraryI remember I dreamt about an earthquake, one night in January 1994....
....and then, the very next morning, a big one struck L.A....

I also remember, that on January 24th 1994, our cat Sylvia passed away.(had her all of my childhood)
Oh and I also remember that I had seen the TV adaptation of Maurice the night before the cat died, so by inference, January 23rd 1994. I remember being HUGELY turned on when Scudder the gardener crept through the guy's bedroom window and they went at it on the bed with him saying something like "Yes, sir" "It's OK sir" - I'm pretty sure I wasfuriously later in bed that night.
But I'm sure that Merchant-Ivory films were much too Anglo for a certain JUBber's refined tastes.

And I have always loved A Room with a View, and that irrespective of the pond scene maybe because, like Jane Austen's works, they succeeded in being very "continentally" charming and refined while seemingly, superficially appearing as thoroughly British... but it's true I am not particularly a big fan of the M-I stuff in general.
