Post something just for the heck of it

After a couple of weeks break, I went back to Purcell's music and finished listening to the remainder....

So in the last few days I heard King Arthur and The Fairy Queen and The Indian Queen - they were a lot more 'haphazard' than Dido and Aeneas was, regarding the relation of the song to the plot and storyline, which often had little in common, but they were OK. My favourite one was King Arthur.

Oh and I even listened to his Ode to St. Cecilia, and also to Come ye Sons of Art, and finally to his Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary which was very striking.

Had never heard the man's name in my life a month ago. Far more 'listenable to' than I'd ever assumed classical music would be.

Actually he's more protoclassic, but if your standard of "classical music" encompasses Verdi, Tchaikovsky and Elgar, and XVIIIth music is to you pretty much Vivaldi's the "Four Seasons" concerts from op.8, it's understandable that you get surprised or/and confused when you really start learning something about true "classical" music.

This is the sort of stuff I enjoy wanking to when I don't have beefy blond American types with a smooth spotless skin at hand..:
