Oh my God guys, this youtube video utterly blew my mind.

Enough to make me cry a little...and, at the end, the final river scene and the commentary about it...something indeed VERY symbolic happened.

This goes right into the very heart of anthropology. I warn you it's long, about 40 minutes, and maybe not for everybody.

I'm gonna send this to Sausy privately, too...and a couple other people. My fascination with this was complete. White man meets a rainforest tribe in Papua New Guinea, a tribe that has never seen a white person before, and who are still in the Stone Age.

This "primitive" tribe is totally civilized in their own way, with what they know! In some ways, they're more civilized than we are...

I was talking to my partner a while ago, and I said something along the lines of "Yeah, I'm sorry I'm like that all the time."

He responded, "Well, once I realized you were on the spectrum, I just grew to accept it."

"....wait, what?"

"....on the spectrum. You know - somewhat autistic."

I didn't respond to that, but it did get me thinking. Because I never considered myself autistic. But after reading up on it a bit, I realized I probably am. In fact, when I bring it up to other friends, they've all said they assumed I was on the spectrum for years. Strange that 1. I never realized it, and 2. they never said anything along those lines.

I don't feel any different. I don't feel like "I feel seen" or anything like that. Just that there's a much shorter and handier term to use than "look, I'm just really weird, OK?"

Everybody and their brother claims to be on the spectrum these days. I think "look, I'm just really weird" is a better explanation.
