I do not recall in whcih thread it was said, but I wanted to add about the exoticity of BCN compared to BCN, that the lack of AC or ice in water servings make it exotic enough for any American... although not specifically "BCN-exotic"

Here’s a really question you can answer belly. What would you consider the best city to visit to get the real Spain experience and not a tourist destination ?

Honestly, if you want to get the real Spain experience, just come over saying you are a penniless homeless alien, and you will get the real Spain experience from both sides of the press.

But if you find that too extreme, you might want to be more specific in your inquire... actually, you do not need to pick up so much city or town as neighborhood or, at least, district... also bearing in mind that during Lockdown August Spain is not very much itself... exception made of the festival areas... which is virtually anywhere in August away from the usually densely populated areas

Whenever I walk down this rambla with kids chirping around right after school, I always feel that a tourist would get a sample of "real Spain", but even the few foreigners you can see around town do not seem to have any reason to reach this part:

despite not being that far away from a favorite place to stay for those (usually younger people of any country) who want to be well-connected and quite close to downtown BCN, while avoiding tourist crowds and, mostly, "tourist prices":

Very "real" Dense, crowded, highrised--- everything you adore

The town in which I live is just an unincorporated district of BCN, and public transportation running close to the flatter, coastal area, leaves you in downtown BCN in a few minutes: this is Europe, every distance is small and walkable.

Although I would always advise a tourist willing to go anywhere not to miss Northern, truly "temperate", cities like León, Gijón, Oviedo or even popular Bilbao.

But I posted a city that was proverbially the fugliest, least interesting one... a sort of Jersey for BCN :rotflmao:

But it would truly be "an experience" of "real Spain": in less than 5 sq mi, you can get from

to the most densely populated sq km in Europe:
