I keep hearing euphemisms on Antiques Roadshow (UK) when they refer to inheriting something beautiful from their uncle "who was a bachelor."

Triggered a memroy. An old gf's family had that uncle "who was a bachelor". It was only years later that I fugured it out. And, boy, did he fit the stereotype!

This scene ostensibly shows Joan Crawford's extreme cruelty and violence toward her daughter in real life. Faye Dunnaway couldn't do the subsequent beating scene - it repulsed her, and a stand-in actress was called to enact the child abuse (a lifelike doll was the victim).

I don't know, but it looks like the table of contents for a pre-Stonewall "study," in which the "experts" thought all they had to do in discussing gay men was to talk about our pathology.

Not sure it would use the epithet "queer" in a study before the counterintuitive appropriation of the term in the late 20th century.
