I can't imagine how mankind would live without music.

Since you said you didn't know, until a couple of days ago, that climbing stairs or merely standing up was exercise, you probably likewise ignore that there are people (single digit-% of the total human population) who are impermeable to music.

I did wonder what you would say about my choice of music. Unfortunately music played no part in my education and thus anything classical is out of my comprehension.

That has NOTHING to do with education... as if they had taught me any music, or AYNTHING AT ALL, for that matter..: I simply went to school to pass exams because I was forced to, and then attended university to make myself more acceptable to those who won't buy anything unless the bottle or package has a label indicating what is supposed to be inside...

Nobody ever taught me what to find in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, K481, Oppian's Halieutica or the Huck Finn: it simply was there for me, like for anyone else, to discover and appreaciate it.

In any case, even unwillingly, it is rather pompous to say that people who can live without music are somehow somewhat... what?: less human? more pitiful? a demure tone and a bar set rather low do not make it any more different from what it ACTUALLY is, no matter how much or less gory and outspoken...
