Belamy may well laugh; it took me several minutes to work what the hell this was all about.

Is Barcelona rejoicing and celebrating in their team's Champions League victory?

And I was wondering if you'd care to expand further on this comment:

My only sympathy and interest in that sport is circumscribed to the Barça-Real feud, for purely political and intellectual decency reasons.

Sounds insightful, care to elaborate on the major differences between the two?

Today there were still remains of blue and red paper shit on the sidewalk sections of Aribau street close to Aragó.

They are both presumptuous shit, but Madrid takes herself for the pretty princess of the place, superior to everyone else in her high-school entourage.

I never knew until today that in the 1880's a member of the Spanish royal family, and pretender to the throne, once lived and died in Hove just a few streets away from me!

Never heard of Juan, Count of Montizón. Mind you, I'd never heard of Ferdinand VII or Isabella II either, or about the Third Carlist War.

He also became in his final years a claimant to the vacant French throne - I only learnt about those various pretenders a year ago. I know a bit more about it now. Some of the French claimants lived in exile in Britain in the Victorian era.

Some friends found a lithograph of this beautiful painting and said it reminded them so much of my tastes they had to give it to me. It's now proudly taped to my office wall.

Why is he so sad?

Why is he so sad?

He is a human being whose creation (a state or empire symbolized by the cyborg eagle) has destroyed another such creation at his behest and both creator and creation are damaged because of it.

When Americans use the United States to subdue other states, both the nation and American society in general pay a hefty price for it.

Other explanations I've liked...

"He's cold."

"He wants that eagle to stop fucking him."

Oh, sorry Chick, I had skipped your post... damn it, you unlucky one
I didn't know or remember about that count, but I am positive I never knew he may have ended up in Cockhampthon-on-Tame-of-Weaselshire 8-)
