^ Facebook is actually really awesome. But to me, it's something that should be shared to folks I know personally.

I feel the same way.

I have a few of my aunts and uncles on FB, but my parents? If they ever join, I'm not adding them. Plain and simple.

I added my mom and stepdad. It doesn't bother me. I would think it rude to not add them, but it depends on your page I suppose.

I have a facefook, only because I am forced to. I hate FB, it's at once too public and too private at the same time. EVERYthing you do, even post a comment on someones pic, or accept a friend request....gets transmitted to EVERYONE. Yet....profiles are too private. Hard to make "new" friends. JUst mainly for networking those you have.

'Farmville' is just about the only game that isn't in Fun & Games…

Just wait until the 'post whores' of JUB get ahold of it!

I'm pretty sure my parents don't have facebook, seeing as how I have to still help them get their e-mail once a week. :)

I actually have two facebook accounts - one for my public persona, one for my more personal self. Weird, but there it is. I've had fun using FB to get pseudo-artistic...

Facebook=Narcissism at it's zenith.

Other than immediate family and friends, why do I care about your trip to Paris or one of your fave YouTube vids...??

Wow! Haha, That's pretty clever!

I have four hundred 'friends' on My Face/Spacebook, none of whom know – or care – the first thing about me…

It's gr8 – very instructive about life…

If you want to express yourself, get a 'tumblr' page!

.

there are a couple JUB'ers that I'd add to my FB, but my friends list is almost entirely only people that I've met IRL (except for a couple World of Warcraft guildmates that I've gamed with and talked to on an almost daily basis for over 5 years)
Why let that put you off though? What I've never understood about these "I only add people I know" people is why would you have such a problem with the odd stranger here and there. Those you know in real life, you can contact any time night or day through other means, the whole idea of Facebook is bringing people together, sometimes people you'd usually never have met had it not been for sites like Facebook.

Real relationships and friendships have been formed through social networking. If you have a problem with the privacy issues then it's not about "adding strangers" it's about you putting too much personal information on there.

It's too darned much fun telling people I haven't heard from for years or don't even know at all to stuff it.

Besides, I did a MySpace account because everyone said I "had to", and I've only ever done anything there like a half dozen times in four years. Why the frak should I want to add another place where information about me sits out there but I never use?

>>>My entire family is on facebook so I'd rather not have to worry about people writing things like "omg, I saw your nudes on JUB!!1!" on my wall.

Oddly, that's what my family posts on FB....

It's not being a snob it's called being careful, and besides 9 times out of 10 these "friends" just want to view/save your pics and then move onto the next person...it's annoying so I say no. I don't just add people that I don't know sorry if it sounds "snobbish" to you but that is MY standing on the whole social network scene. Let me know if/when you get your identity stolen when a bunch of fake accounts start popping up and I'll try to put on a sympathetic face.

I got friend requests in a deluge when I was on MySpace. I sent back a question in every case:

If I call you between one and six in the morning because I'm in the middle of a panic attack, will you head for my house and stay on the phone while you're on the way?

Only people who answered "yes" got to be called "friends".

I would love to meet new folks of varying walks of life ^_^

I love Facebook and I have great friends and family there.

However, I exclude lots of radicals, weirdos and Marxists....
