So, how are the ear buds and the speakers? Are the speakers louder? I can barely hear them when I'm driving and have the speakers on. Hopefully Apple made the sound on speakers actually audible.

These little things count. My uncle said that the cars he's liked always had good cup holders. That's the same with Apple too. Get the little things right.

The new "ear pods" have much better bass response than the previous ones - they sound great. Now the iPhone 5 supports HD audio phone calls, the sound quality of calls between other compatible handsets (like the Samsung GSIII etc) is astounding. The earpods still fall out when I run, however - they're not really suitable for sport use - for me, anyway.

The speaker may be a bit louder - the speaker outlet itself is much larger - but I wouldn't say it's a dramatic difference.

The iPhone 5 doesn't have a glass back anymore, so that's one less shatterable part. Some users have complained that the back and edges of the phone is easily scuffed. I'm tough on phones, and I put a case on mine before I left the store I bought it in, so it shouldn't be an issue for me.

They have a great deal of improvements over iPhone 4, for starters iPhone 4 doesn't even have Siri, faster processor, Panorama feature. I've found that my iPhone 4 is extremely slower running iOS 6.

Its a HUGE huge difference compared to the 4. Even compared to the 4S its a significant improvement overall.

Try the apple store. I was having some problems with mine, just different odds and ends, and they did a firmware update there that seems to have fixed all the problems I was facing.

As for the phone, significantly improved. Earpods have a way better sound than the earbuds, and they are 10x less painful to wear. They aren't (like previous posts have said) great for sport use. The sound on the phone is louder (though not by much, and in all honesty, the only use my speakers get is my alarm and ringtone).

one annoying thing already surfaces: iphone 5 users standing somewhere in a crowded spot shooting panaromas. it's like they never new you could do that before. we were at a gay party this week and at one point there were THREE people at the dancefloor doing this. it was one of the moments that you felt embarassed for something that someone else is doing.

^^^ Speakerphone is fabulous. It is not only loud but it is crisp. I was recently gagging over it and the fact that my friend on the other line heard me so clear.


I came from an iphone 4 to an iphone 5 so the jump in speaker quality, speed, and GPU (Not to mention AMAZING low light shots from the camera and going from 5 to 8 megapixels) rendered me speechless


Truly a fabulous device. Honestly, however, with the new HTC phone coming out that completely destroys the retina screen my iphone 5 will retire to what I always wanted it to be, a music player/ipod. Without the horrendous ipod form factor. I do one thing with my phone and that's browse the web, look at photos (On the web) and read texts/shoot emails. I want the biggest most beautiful screen to do all of it but that is here nor there.



Oh and the Earpods? I have a fantastic klipsch (Spelling?) pair about 80 bucks so they are in the higher end. The earpods sound exactly the same. Exactly.

^^^ Thanks Digital Fudge. That truly is enough to make me buy the iPhone 5. I was wary about it having basically the same OS, but the earphone quality and speakerphone audibility made up my mind.

With my current phone, the normal humming of an engine and A/C drowns out the person on the phone.

What is the distance range between your home wifi modem base and the iphone getting no signal? My iPhoneGS3 is about 3 meters/10ft. I just wonder if it's worth getting at all, this new fangled iPhone 5 or whether its wifi is rubbish.

iPhone 4 and below doesn't have them only 4s and 5 have it.

because apple doesn't want them to have them. you probably can have them if you root the phones (except siri because everything that you tell to siri is transmitted to apple anyways). this is not a feature of the phone, but of the OS. it's a tough concept for iPhone users, I know

In Maryland I get 35-50 mbps down.


That's full bars though 1-3 bars I get 25 down.
