So, I posted a non-sexual picture on Grindr and now all sorts of weirdos wrote me within 30 minutes. In my profile I said that I was interested in white and black men. So, do you know who wrote me? Everyone else besides black and white men.

1) One guy, I'm sure is a Republican. He's married. I Googled him and thought that I was speaking to his son. He's run for Justice of the Peace (whatever the hell this is) as a Republican. He has a lisp and everything... not exactly discrete. Who the hell is he fooling as a "married man"? [-X [-X [-X

2) Another guy is talking about meeting NOW, just 45 minutes after the posting. [-X [-X

3) One guy is in Mexico. [-X He wrote, "No hablo Ingles." I responded with "No hablo Espanol." And he responded, "De donde eres?" I was going to write him "Los Estados Unidos" and then thought, "Why the hell am I writing him?" [-X [-X [-X

4) A woman wrote... wasn't transexual either which wouldn't have made a difference, but you have to wonder why a woman is on a gay men's portal.

Let me take a guess... Grindr isn't the way to find a "quality buddy"? It could really work if people read your little section. 17 people wrote in about half an hour. I would think one of them would be good.

What would have happened if I posted a cock shot?

I might post screenshots, off my phone, of some of the responses.

The "let's me now" guy is trying to threaten me. "I see you're not serious. I'm going to go to someone else."

Please do.

i think he did post the pic, its on the bottom of his OP

oh and btw, if that is your pic lostlover... cute!

Creepy. It feels like you've already been indecently raped before you've met anyone of these desperados.

But then again, your pic is worth a thousand words.

Can we see the photo you posted?

If a guy threatens you, you report him

He didn't threaten me like "I'm going to beat your ass." It was more a manipulative / guilt trip thing he was doing, because I showed mild initial interest in him after he responded before he got all creepy.

I told him to go to someone else like he promised. He hasn't written back which doesn't mean he's through. Some people you write on Grindr take their time even though it says they're online. I'd imagine even if you close your app, you'd be "offline." So, clearly, they're logged onto Grindr.

You think people who post sexual pictures don't get "trolled" either.

At least it has a block function...

Don't expect too much from something, that's clearly designed for hooking-up.

Also if you posted a cock-shot your profile wouldn't of been approved, and you may be banned from the app... durf.

Why would you troll someone? Do you think you're going to get ass (or arse) from someone you're annoying?

Ok. That makes sense. I haven't seen any nudes. I assume there were nude pictures because I was given an age disclaimer when I downloaded the app.

I swear: as soon as I confirmed my e-mail account and password and answered a text message, my phone was blowing up from people responding. And on a Monday night too! I could understand like Friday or Saturday night getting these many responses, but not at the beginning of the week.

There are way too many anonymous profiles to block them all.

Why bother using a shitty application with a face like that?

I thought Grindr was all the rage on here.

Free App + Hot Guys = Fun Times

I'm giving this app hours to work. Soon, I will have mined the site already.

I don't understand all the people posting the pix in the tight underwear. Don't they have family members? Co-workers? Neighbors? Employers?

Do they want their business (literally) all out there, memorialized on the internet?

If that's your picture, you're kinda fuckable..

As for Grindr, you're not allowed to post pictures of a sexual nature..No cock shots..

Sometimes it's fun to mess with people who send you dumb ass e mails..Ask them what they're into, and then ask them to do the complete opposite..

If they are gonna ignore me and what I've said I'm looking for, sometimes I'll fuck with them back and tell them I only get into fisting in public places..Then ask them to meet at the local Sears bathroom..

On that note,I tried Grindr for the 2 weeks I had an iphone.I didn't like Grindr and I didn't like the i phone..Deleted my account and got a Droid Razr..

Ah, there's your problem. You, dear sir, are Fresh Meat. Of course everyone's going to come after you!

Also, what you see as trolling is pretty much what Grindr is about: throwing out as much bait as possible and see what bites. Many people on Grindr will message pretty much anyone. Just respond "no interest" and move on.
It's why I uninstalled it from my phone.

Grindr is a gay cruising app. You find out who's close by, proposition each other and then have sex with them as soon as possible. People don't go on Grindr to make friends or get to know someone. . .you'd never catch me on an app like that; I think it's too dangerous, personally.

I don't think the family members, co-workers, neighbours and employers are going to be on Grindr.

And if they are and you hook up, them seeing you in your undies is going to become a minor concern.

I agree with you. Grindr, to me, has sleaze written all over it. From the repeated requests to track you (I think I found a way around this), to the listing of how many feet or miles other people are from you to the HUGE size of the application. I went to get coffee this AM and tried to update the app while i was there. I was told that Grindr's update was too big to update over the phone's network. Which to me, in and of itself, is a huge red flag; what kind of updates are they doing that require several MBs of packets to be sent through the phone's network?

My saving grace is that the city I'm posted in, isn't my hometown. It is where I will be for Thanksgiving.

I had my phone plugged into a dock this AM while I was sleeping, bad idea. The notification dings played through the stereo system. Someone wrote, "u up?" Another person wanted feet pictures. And another said he wanted choke me, rough me up, and called me his "N word." That's a first!

I'm 6'1. The guy that wants to play rough is 6'4 and looks like a football player.

This app is trash. It has turned out to be a high tech Craigslist.
