Potential

Into the meeting room walked Alex Perry alone and afraid but out walked Alex Jackson a totally different man. In ridding himself of his unwanted surname Alex felt truly free and ready to embrace the world in finding out who he truly was.

“Wow really … did he? … Go dad!” Paul exclaimed as he listened to the amazing story. “So you’re really Alex Jackson then … and he was a famous quarterback too” Paul added.

Later that evening after dinner at Paul’s house Jim Marten had further surprises in mind. He ushered everyone into the lounge and in his best courtroom theatrical style gained everyone’s attention.

“Now Alex” he began “I thought you might like to learn something about your father.” He took a large folder from the coffee table and handed it to Alex. Inside the folder were numerous photocopies of newspaper clippings mostly about football and the State University team the Vipers. Alex read about his dad the football player intent on not missing a single word. A huge grin appeared on Alex’s face as he came to realise that his father was someone really special.

Jim then went over to the VCR and pushed play as a recording of an NCAA Final football match appeared on the television screen. It was his dad on the screen. Alex was totally immersed watching his father play football. He cheered when they scored touchdowns and was so proud of the father he had never known.

At the end of the match a jubilant quarterback was called to the field commentator’s microphone for a post match interview. He unclipped his face guard and lifted the helmet off his head to answer questions with a huge grin on his face. Alex gasped his eyes filling with tears as he looked at his father’s face, his own face. The likeness was so amazing. He even smiled the same way, had the same curly hair and the eyes were unmistakeable. Hearing his sweet voice float across the room made him real to Alex, who innocently called out "hi dad" while the Martens passed knowing looks through watery eyes.

“I knew as soon as I saw you Alex. There had to be a connection. Robert Jackson was younger than me but I represented his father at the trial of the thugs accused of his murder. My client, your grandfather died 6 years ago, there is no one left now, there’s no trust fund or money to be claimed. All I have are the clippings and the video. It should be easy to find more if you want to search around.”

Alex opened his final envelope handed to him by Jim. It contained real newspaper clippings not just photocopies the difference this time was that they were about the shooting. As he read about his dad the hero his blue eyes swelled as the ocean with tears. There were several photographs mostly taken at football games but a few close ups. There was also a photograph of a pretty dark skinned girl identified as the person he had gone to rescue. Her heartfelt interview expressed great gratitude and sorrow for the family of her rescuer.

The silence that followed was not uncomfortable it was more like reverence for a beautiful life sacrificed to protect others. It was broken by the chiming of the door bell.

Mrs Marten went quietly to answer its call.

Through muffled voices could be heard “Ruth so nice to see you and Jerome, welcome come in.”

Through the doorway came Jerome with his mother. Mrs Marten introduced Ruth to Alex adding “I think you know where Ruth fits into the events Alex.”

He did.

Then it was Ruth’s turn to express her feelings to the son of the man who gave his life to protect her.

Dumbfounded for several minutes Alex didn’t know what to think.

“It’s incredible … wow … what can I say … how can I ever thank you all?”

“You already have son” replied Jim Marten.

Closing the door to the bedroom Alex drew Paul to him holding him close with a huge happy grin on his face. “I know what will make this day perfect for me” he whispered playfully, then drew Paul’s face forward to his waiting lips.

Slowly savouring every moment they undressed each other falling onto the bed in a tumble of arms and legs. The snake man lived up to his name writhing his sinuous body around Paul his tongue darting in and out sensing every scent, taste and feel of his body. Paul’s heart cried out to the man he loved and found it returned in full with a force so strong it could move mountains for Alex had opened his heart for the first time. Paul wrapped his golden limbs around Alex then arched his back rolling over. Alex’s long penis its head glistening moist and pink was poised directly over Paul’s anus. Alex looked deep into Paul’s eyes and profoundly said “I love you Paul” as his shaft gently forced its way inside. Paul’s eyes blazed golden fire heightened from pure joy. The snake man moved his body mesmerising Paul’s mind and body to heights he had never before attained. Their climax started as a deep rumble, toes buckled, muscles strained as both Alex and Paul gave their bodies to each other in deep convulsions that shook them as surely as an earthquake can. They lay facing each other deeply in love Alex with his long dick still inside Paul gazing into each other’s eyes.

“I love you Paul” reiterated Alex, “I’m happier than I’ve ever been.”

Sheepishly Paul grinned “um do you think right now is the best time for a conversation? I mean your dick is still inside me so I am at a rather large disadvantage right now … and anyway what makes you think you’re the only one going to have that kind of fun around here?”

Alex rolled onto his back laughing “try me then if you’re game.”

“Oh I will Alex” joked Paul as the pair resumed their lovemaking “I think you have excellent potential.”

Michael,

I have to agree with Endlessnight. What a remarkable story from a remarkable author. I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of reading it.

I am sure you are a great father to your six children, and hopefully, in some way, they will witness the exceptional talent their father has. I think you have the ability to write with great feelings about many subjects and there will be those stories that you can share with them. In the mean time, please continue to share your other feelings with us. Let us be your audience.

Not only is it ok but the way I would rate it is as an amazing story. I'm just sad that it is done. I t was one heck of an emotional roller coaster ride. It is a verly beautifully written story.
By all means if you ever consider telling us another story or even carrying this on, I'll be more than glad to read it. Hope to hear from you again. ..|..|..|:gogirl::gogirl::gogirl::=D::=D::=D:(!)(!)(!)

That was a beautifully-written and very satisfying ending to a wonderful story. For a first effort, it was more than just "ok" - it was sheer brilliance. You are certainly to be praised for the way you wove all the threads together and injected some tender romance into the story. :=D: I agree with all the other posters' comments ^^

Thank you for sharing this story with us and I hope (and obviously I am not the only one) that you will write more, in the near future.

Justin ;)

Daid63, thank you so much for bringing a wonderful story back! Michaelnm2000 has to be one of the best and most accomplished authors of this forum. I have just reread the entire story and it effected me as strongly the second time as it did the first.
We haven't heard from michaelnm2000 for some time and I think it is time for him to reappear. At least I hope he does.

Among all the stories I have read in this forum, I think this is the most perfect story I had ever read. It is full of emotion and all. This proves that we don't need cheesy sex story to be excited by reading the story. The best among the best...!!!

i am stunned by the overwhelming response to my story. I've had emails, messages, posts and never a negative from from anyone.
To all the people who took the time to read my story and to those who responded can i just say thank you.

yes i haven't been here for a while and yes i tried to start a new story but it just never lifted off the ground. maybe i need a new chapter in the "college" lives of Alex and Paul. I'll think about that!
the reason i was able to write was because of you guys - take a bow - without you the story is just words

All the best everyone

Alex Jackson stepped out of a cab, inhaled deep and looked about him at the cheap apartment building he would call home for the next three years. He carried his few belongings across the pavement into the building up a fight of stairs and along a corridor searching for 219. Alex was here early because he had no where else to go.

It was a shame Paul wasn’t here with him. Paul’s life was now an hour and a half away in at State University where he would emulate his father’s success in gaining a Law Degree. Alex on the other hand was almost back where he had started 12 months earlier. Almost, but not quite because he had money saved from his job at Dulcie’s Diner and he had belief in himself. Despite missing out on the Athletic Scholarship to State University he had qualified academically for a place in a different College and had gained a chance to try out for the College Basketball team “the rattlers”. Already he missed Paul’s warm golden face, soft brown eyes, dazzling smile and friendly nature, let alone the physical aspects of their relationship. He was very disappointed Paul had suggested they be free to “date” other people and that was a major reason why he had no place to go and had come to College two weeks early.

Alex had decided he would use the time to familiarise himself with the sprawling University complex and work on some individual pre-season training. He unlocked his door, deposited his bags on the hard mattress and opened the windows to freshen the air inside his room and gaze out at the College dorms across the street. With the bulk of students due to arrive, in town in two weeks, the halls and rooms of the college dorms were bare of the usual business and noise associated with the start of a new semester.

Being alone was not a problem. He was used to being alone and fending for himself having spent his most of his life doing exactly that. He knew how to survive and had done so right up until he met Paul and realised how good it could be to experience being loved by someone and love them back. Losing Paul made him feel empty and overwhelmingly unhappy. It still hurt a great deal and now he was back to being alone, but, this time it was different because he had a future and had determination.

Alex quickly unpacked and stowed away his belongings which pitifully left the majority of his storage space bare. He changed into a singlet, shorts and running shoes and found his way back outside to jog around the University in the pleasant afternoon sunlight. A few minutes later he jogged past the gymnasium also known as the “Snake Pit” and ran up the steps into the coolness of the building. He was lucky to find a basketball in an unlocked equipment room and took the opportunity to run himself through some skills with the ball and practise some shooting completely unaware he was being observed by calm thoughtful eyes.

The days passed by in quiet solitude as Alex spent his time training twice a day and reading some texts for the semester ahead.

The last weekend of the summer break began with an early trickle of traffic and the sounds of students arriving to claim their spaces in the dorms. As the day wore on the sounds increased and laughter rang out across the street bouncing through the dorm halls as friends renewed their acquaintances. Alex jogged back through the groups chatting outside on the wide expanses of lawn in front of the dorms, across the street and up the stairs along to 219.

Alex made his way down the University corridor in his usual inconspicuous manner arriving at a door marked Laboratory 106. He opened the door and found a seat on the opposite side of the room two benches behind the first at the front. He prepared for the upcoming lesson taking out the training manual and the work booklet for Chemistry 101. His interest lay in becoming a Physiotherapist and exactly how Maths, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology were necessary to achieve that goal was somewhat mystifying … still, if that what he had to do then so be it! Two minutes later the room was filled and the lecturer a slim bespectacled man with soft brown eyes entered taking his place stilling the wagging tongues with intelligent glances about the room.

Each student had to take a number and find another student with a matching number then sit in the designated seats according to the numbers selected. It was in this manner that Alex was paired with another student as his Lab Partner.
“Hello I’m Scott” he chirped.
“Um … hello … I’m Alex” he finally managed to blurt out before the silence became embarrassing.
Their eyes appraised each other in the hope their partnership in the Lab would not be a disaster.
Alex avoided eye contact as much as possible but could not help noticing the brown hair, brown eyes and tanned skin of his new Lab partner. Why did Scott have to remind him so much of Paul? A less attractive guy or maybe a female would have been easier to work with. As it was Scott would remind him of Paul every time they worked together and for Alex that meant a dull ache in his heart for something that just wasn’t practical and could not be. Still he would make the most of it having already pre- read the first half of the required text already and familiarised himself with the first months practical Lab experiments.
The two young men sat side by side about half way in the room and listened to the gentle tones of the Chemistry Lecturer who detailed the semester’s compulsory Lab work and required assessments.
Physics was later that day at 2:00 pm and once again Alex had to draw a Lab partner who this time turned out to be a studious African American girl who gave her name as Letisha. He felt confident this combination would work well and was intent on making the most of the opportunities.

Later that same day at 4:30 pm Alex entered the Snake Pit to try out for the Rattler’s basketball team. First the head coach Mr Anderson called the 35 hopefuls together explaining how the selection process was to work and also that the top 10 positions had been filled with students on Athletic Scholarships. That left 2 more Athletic Scholarships available to Freshmen students and a further 4 more training positions. He went straight into coaching mode giving introducing his coaching staff and management team following that with instructions for how the selection process was to work. The 35 would be culled to 18 at the end of the first week and then down to 12 by the end of the second, with the final selections made at the end of the third week.

The training consisted of routine drills but with so many guys trying to gain a position the nerves obviously got to some students. It wasn’t all that easy to concentrate knowing half the group would be cut in just 4 days. Alex tried to focus but now and then someone would do something really athletic to challenge his concentration. He had already worked out how he would deal with the outcome. If he got one of the scholarships then great, it would really help, and he would have enough to live on. If not then he would get a part time job and work his way through to his degree. Right now however it was concentrate, work hard and do what he had to do to maximise his chances.

The first weeks flew by. Lectures were full of promise. He had met up with both Letisha and Scott (who still reminded him of Paul) and was even more impressed by them the second time around and as Lab partners they were as meticulous and careful as he was. The basketball training was intense but satisfying, but, of course the end of the week meant the first cut followed by the second and right now it was time for the third.

On the final training day the hopeful athletes gathered in the Snakepit to hear the news. One by one they were brought into the coaching teams office where the decision was given. The list being alphabetical meant Alex was chronologically midway in the group. When his name was called he walked along the sideline, around the corner and down the corridor to the coaching office. Coach Anderson was across on the other side of a table with assistant coaches either side of him. Alex sat in the chair opposite waiting for the verdict.

Assistant Coach Brown read from his list of attributes and things he thought Alex needed to work on as Alex listened. Then Coach Anderson delivered the final words.

“Congratulations Alex we would like to offer you an Athletic Scholarship.” It took a few moments to sink in as Alex sat stunned in total disbelief, then finally grinned and shook the hands offered from across the table.

Great to have an update, Michael. Something down deep in my heart hopes that Paul will enter the equation again. If not, I look forward to meeting Alex's new partner. I know your talent will not disappoint any of us.
