Pranks - Mean or Hilarious?

I return to my original post. A loved one, friend or family, will see a prank as an attempt to amuse them. If it is done for any other reason, it is a bad prank.

It is fine to tease our loved ones through humorous pranks, but only if it is seen as an extension of our love for them.

My son was a Freshmen in HS, he and some friends decided to be cool and rent a limousine and show up in style for the prom, they would split the cost and my son took on the responsibility of finding a limo.

He had no luck and came to me for advise. I told him about a carefully guarded secret... funeral homes will rent out their limos at night to make extra money.

He quickly got the yellow pages out and began dialing, he must have called a half dozen that all played along and said that theirs was unavailable before he caught on that I was jerking his chain.

It might sound a little mean, now, but even he laughed when he figured out what was going on.

I know a few guys that happens when they cut the cheese! Granted that ain't a prank, just something I thought about reading your post.

But yeah, pranks that the "victim" can laugh about afterward are definitely funny. Anything that causes physical/emotional harm is just cruel, useful as a possible deterrent against those who employ such "pranks" for fun but not worthy of use on innocents. Any prank that damages/destroys the personal property of someone else is just wrong, however a prank that destroys your own property.... well if your willing to sacrifice your own stuff to try and prank someone, that's for you to decide.

In high school a buddy and I had great fun smearing petroleum jelly on the back of locks (people's lockers). Before anyone says anything, it happened to me first. I was just passing it on.

That's tame compared to what the auto mech teacher did to the metals teacher.

If you really want to get looks show up to a nice restaurant driving one. Then get out, open the back, and pull a coffin out far enough to open the lid so your partner can climb out...... It really turns heads!!!!!

April fools day 2 years ago. The CEO of the company I was with sent out a mass email to everyone saying the company was just sold. This meant layoffs for everyone. The email was very official looking and elaborate. I had just gotten back to my office when I saw the email. My stomach sank. In my head I was asking myself oh no what now what now?

Then a guy I know from the office next door dropped by and laughingly asked me if I had seen the April fools email from the CEO yet? I was like oh.... Yeah I saw the email. Funny.

Apparently, I was the only one that fell for it.

I felt that great sadness and disappointment for a week. I knew it was just a joke, but it still had a psychological effect on me. Days after that I still found myself not being able to sleep thinking of the contents of the email.

I don't mind the email. What happened was as soon as I saw the email all the sadness and feeling of helplessness that came with losing my job imprinted into my mind. Even after I realized it was a prank, the imprint remained. So, the email itself was fine for a prank. The CEO probably didn't intend it to cause me such distress. I also think the reason I was so stressed by it because not too long before that I forced out of a company because of homophobia. Long story.

He's actually an alright guy. Even long after I left his company, he and I still text back and forth.

Anyway, nowadays I don't play pranks that are too far out. For example, I just bought my boyfriend a new ps4 as an early Christmas present. As soon as I got the email saying it was delivered, he and I rushed home. I got home first and took the game out of the delivery box. I thought I could convince him that someone had stolen it before we got home. He was worried about that for days. Anyway, he didn't fall for it because I couldn't keep a straight face.

Now that it's almost Christmas time I was reminded of a prank I pulled on my little brother. Every day until Christmas Eve I kept telling him if he kept acting naughty Santa would place a black rock in his stocking. He kept saying I was lying but at the same time I could see he was a bit worried. Well on Christmas morning I swapped his stocking with another one and put a small black rock inside. We he and my little sister got up and went to check their stockings she found a piece of candy in hers but all he saw was the rock. He was a little sad and kept looking for his real stocking. When he saw me bring it to him he started laughing.

Now that they're older I need to find better ways to prank them.
