On the Oprah Network (OWN) on Tuesday, at 10 pm Lisa Ling will have a show cdalled "Pray the Gay Away?"

Sneak Peek: "Pray the Gay Away?", an all-new Our America Tuesday at 10/9c
Posted: Fri 03/04/2011 11:30 AM

Lisa Ling takes a look at one of the most polarizing debates in Christianity today: whether or not it's possible to be gay and Christian at the same time. Watch a sneak peek of Lisa's interview with Exodus International president Alan Chambers about his struggles with homosexuality. Get the full story on Tuesday at 10/9c on an all-new episode of Our America with Lisa Ling, "Pray the Gay Away?".

I've got this set to record. The past two episodes were interesting as well. One was "Transgender Lives" the other was "State of Sex Offenders"

I once got in touch with one of those groups who claim to be able to help "cure" you. While I respect their desire to help people, it did absolutely nothing for me. I am who I am, that's it. I can still try to be a good person. Gay doesn't equal evil, no matter what shitheads like the deranged Margie Phelps says.

I always find it funny how we proved that homosexual men have different brains from heterosexual men, yet that's not enough proof for your homosexual orientation to be a part of you, you had to choose it.

Praying the gay away only works for the lifestyle, it doesn't work for the attraction.

You need a scalpel and a brain surgeon in my opinion to get rid of the homosexual attraction.

If guilt and prayers were really enough to stop people from being gay, NO ONE would be gay.

Well, just about every Christian i've ever met or heard of has been an adulterer and a Christian; a sodomite and a Christian; a blasphemer and a Christian; had a ton of pre-marital sex and were a Christian.

So if they're actually trying to argue that you can't be gay and a christian "because it's a sin", then .

For a time in my life(after my first break up), I prayed God to make me straight, I went to church every Sunday and Wednesday and prayed and prayed.
I still stayed gay. It truly is amazing and sad the hell these people put themselves through...when there is nothing wrong with them.

I prayed the straights away. It didn't work damn it!

If anyone knows the history of Exodus, they have gone through so many presidents... it's probably just a matter of time until Chambers wakes up to reality. Although, I don't think it's impossible for a Bi guy to lead an organization like that...

THIS IS THE TRUTH:

This is from one of the FOUNDERS of Exodus:

Hi, welcome to ex-gay therapy. Would you like some rape with that?

LOL thanks bankside. I needed that.

Seven years of not masturbating and a five year live-in program and you still haven't changed?! Try harder! We need the money.

Hm, doesn't seem to work for Lesbians either...

There are countless people who have tried!!

If you still must be religious, you're not doomed:

And, if you ever get attacked by Christians and are willing to put in a little studying, here is your ammo. Lock and load:

The sad part is she's still trying to make money off the same people, this time by selling self-acceptance instead of self-hate.

Except it isn't really even self acceptance. She falls for the woman of her dreams and her reaction is not some kind of innate knowledge that her ministry was a fraud and that everything good could come from her relationship, but this sad kind of co-dependent quest for external validation. "And so we searched the scriptures" for proof that we were okay.

Still running back to that little book, when, as a believer or not, anyone should know that life is bigger than a book.

I never went to a Christian gay camp but when I was younger I did try to pray my gay away. It's a difficult chapter of my life. I thought I was failing as a person and was being punished. Terrible.

You can't cure gays
and you can't cure temporal lobe epilepsy (God in brains) either.

We all have to live with our diseases, brothers and sisters.
They: trying to save us from our sins.
We: trying to take them to bed and screw them real hard.

We need to pray the Pharisaical attitudes away!

Stories like this reveal the truly ultimate irony of ex-gay therapy. Most of the 'therapists' ARE GAY THEMSELVES.

Does it not strike them as odd that the cure for being gay is apparently to start hugging MEN and not WOMEN?

The whole leadership and higher powers in the ex-gay movement seem to be a dangerous mix of self-loathing closet cases, sociopaths and evangelists who seek out 'victims' such as the guy in the vid to control and manipulate for their own selfish ends.

A psychologist would have a field day analysing the members of these groups - and I'm not talking about the poor vulnerable guys who get caught up in this web of self-delusion. I'm talking about the instigators and the perpetrators.

It's on now. I could use a laugh, BBL.

So I'm watching this and I could tell within the first 5 minutes that these people have been brainwashed by the religious right and megachurch pastors.

During the interview, Alan Chambers, the head of the ex-gay conference profiled and pictured above said that God said that homosexuality was "less than his best". The problem is, the Bible doesn't say that anywhere, so even in this guy's religious perspective "God" could not have said that.

Who did say that was Joel Osteen, a megachurch pastor.

I mean this guy is so stupid, if you're going to delude yourself into thinking your religion precludes you from being gay, at least get what your religion says right.
