the gossip is not a band that get mad about someone doing their own thing while the band take breaks between albums

kim ann foxmann from hercules love affaire jsut released her own ep aswell and casey spooner from fischerspooner released his own stuff aswell


actually i think alot of bands could need to do that get some new inspiration see what other people do and work

Beth Ditto releases solo EP


Beth Ditto's EP with Simian Mobile Disco has been given an official release.

The previously-announced collaboration between the Gossip frontwoman and production team was put up for download via Beatport mondayday, and is also available on 12" vinyl.

The four new tracks are 'Do You Need Someone', 'Goodnight Good Morning', 'I Wrote The Book' and 'Open Heart Surgery'.

According to NME, the record will be given a full international release in March.

Beth Ditto ready to get her Gossip on

She could’ve just rested on the gilded laurels of “Music For Men,” her year-old breakthrough album with her bracing band Gossip.

But plus-sized frontvixen Beth Ditto has been busy on a variety of fronts.

She’s designed fashions for the Evans line, just appeared on the cover of Love Magazine, and even strutted down the catwalk for Jean-Paul Gaultier at last year’s Paris Fashion Week. And currently, the always-outspoken gal is ensconced in a studio, hard at work on the next Gossip effort.

But on March 8, Ditto will issue a solo “EP,” a fizzy little dancefloor cocktail she concocted with the UK duo Simian Mobile Disco.

She’d already toured with them, even trilled on their “Cruel Intentions” track from 2009’s “Temporary Pleasures” album.

So it makes sense that SMD’s James Ford and Jas Shaw would push the experiment further, co-writing and also producing tracks like “Goodnight, Good Morning,” “Do You Need Someone” and kickoff lived-to-tell-themed single “I Wrote The Book” (whose Price James-directed video is already up at www.gossipyouth.com).

Fans see this singer as a true barrier-smashing superstar.

In one fell swoop, progressive pop group Gossip have announced a new album, single, and still-in-the-works European tour: "A Joyful Noise," the band's fifth studio album, will be released May 22 through Columbia Records, while lead single "Perfect World" drops today (March 13) for download.

The follow-up to 2009's "Music For Men" was recorded in England and Portland, Oregon with producer Brian Higgins (Kylie Minogue, Girls Aloud). "I spent the whole year listening to ABBA and not listening to the radio," admits frontwoman Beth Ditto in a press release.

Gossip's "Live From The Lot" performance at SXSW on Thursday (Mar. 15) will be live-streamed on YouTube, while the group will embark on a summer European tour following the release of "Noise," with dates yet to be announced. Since forming in 1999, the group has released four full-lengths, with its latest, "Music For Men," moving 42,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
