as priests are not supposed to have sex,do they masturbate ????? or are they supposed to stay away from thier cock altogether???
any priests on line??

I'm not a priest, and though I've never been physically intimate wtih one, I've had the occassion to have very close ties with several. They do everything we do buddy. I'm sure a minority are prudish and staunchly adhere to their vows. Most however tend to disregard the vow of celibacy when it comes to masturbation. Some others go beyond that and keep it on the DL. One of my priest friends meets monthly with other gay priests from his dioscese. Among those, several are partners.

I'm not a priest but as I understand it, to enter the priesthood, they take vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. Like all human beings, they may fail and violate those vows, which is considered a "sin". Since, by and large, Christian faith considers ANY sexual activity outside of marriage unacceptable, I would guess that masturbation is an unacceptable act.

However, my opinion is that religion, Christianity in particular, is all about control. To saddle people with guilt just because they have raging hormones, priest or not, seems ridiculous. Masturbation is a NORMAL human function, like eating, drinking and breathing.

Not all priests take a vow of poverty. I have known some very wealthy ones who inherited millions.

I got into a discussion once with a young priest who mentioned that he was "curious" about sex with guys after he found out I was gay. He said he loved sex with females but the only sexual contact he had with guys was jacking off with fellow priest while watching porn in seminary.
I asked him if he intended to have sex with females and he said he did. I asked if he planned to have sex with guys and he said he hoped to. I asked about his vows of celibacy and chastity and he said "I don't agree with the churches views on sex". He said he had lots of other issues with the church and I couldn't help but wonder why he should bother being a priest.
It's my impression that the priesthood is just one big closet for gay men to hide in.

When our son was about 13, his Sunday School teacher told the boys in the class that masturbation was a sin. The teacher was a single college student. Does he really expect us to believe he never wanks?

I would disagree. Some orders have additional vows but those three are traditional vows shared by all religious and diocesan priests. While it is true that many priests come from extremely wealthy families and inherit large sums of money, if they are committed to the priesthood, they generally donate the money or use it for philanthropic purposes. In our diocese, salaries for priests are better than many who work at minimum wage jobs. Plus the priests get housing, utilities food and insurance, which makes them much better off financially than many low-skilled or retired parishioners and under-employed persons. It's the same with protestant ministers, although they are allowed to marry, which is an ongoing, raging debate in the Catholic Church. The Vatican won't give in on that issue. It's the old "once a priest, always a priest" doctrine.

Now back to the topic of masturbating priests...

Sex is a rather different drive to other biological needs.

You have real big problems if you don’t breath for a few minutes – if you don’t drink for a few days - and if you don’t eat for a few weeks.

You can maybe go without sex for a few months – but in the end it will be all you can think about – just as after a few weeks of not eating - all you can think about is food – and a few minutes of not breathing concentrates the mind only on the need for air.

One reason it’s not possible to commit suicide by just holding your breath – is that your instincts simply take over –

In the same way trying to suppress the sex drive is very difficult.

Almost all guys masturbate if they are not having sex with someone else on a regular basis. The ones that don’t are storing up the same problems as trying to not breath involves.

Anecdotal evidence says most “Celibate” priests masturbate – those that don’t have either huge self control – or are else storing up major problems for themselves later.

One big problem with severe sexual frustration is that even children will start to seem sexually desirable. Children are appealing to all adults (male or female) – but mostly our attraction to them is just a natural desire to protect and look after them.

However – some people when extremely sexually frustrated may express this as overt sexual desire for children.

Sadly this is the sort of problem that has resulted in 5% of all Catholic Priests in the USA being involved in child abuse allegations or investigations.

Where the attempt to unnaturally suppress their sexuality has tragically misfired

This is only a personal view - but a 5% peadophillia rate is 50 times more than in the general population - while I dislike Christianity - I think this is more likely due to unnatural attempts at celibay - rather than any inherent problem with their religion (however misguided).

....some people when extremely sexually frustrated may express this as overt sexual desire for children....

I'm no expert, but nothing I've ever seen suggests that sexual frustration causes pedophilia. Can you supply a couple of reputable supporting links?

Ironically, one of the characteristics of atheism is that it leads people to make things up.

More rubbish, same source.
Thanks spensed2.
There are studies that clearly indicate that pedophilia
is not a gay afflictioin.
Angelboy is a puzzle and not well informed.

When a priest is masturbating does he yell out "Oh God" when he cums?
If so, does he then hear, "Yes my son?"

Yes I am a priest. And I am an Anglican priest.
We have no vow of celibacy. Some marry,
some do not marry. Some are gay and in gay
monogamous relationships such as myself.
Do we masturbate. Probably the great majority
masturbate.

Those who are Roman Catholic priests and monastics have taken a vow of celibacy. That is that they may not marry, or have sexual relationships with a woman, they may not masturbate or have any impure thoughts. Now to be forthright, we all know that all of the vow takers have not kept their vows. If they falter, are they not open to the same forgiveness and restoration as any of us?

That this may be a cause of pedophilia in the Church is an outrage.
There is no evidence that supports this. I am personally tired of this accusation being made. It is opinion but no more. It has become a bigoted bias and sinister in this forum. Some seem to think that all that is required is to shout louder than someone else.

Perhaps if the rules against celibacy were relaxed as there were none for the first 900 years, perhaps we would have a better adjusted clergy group. Would there no sexual deviation or practices outside the generally accepted norms, probably not.

Priests are men just like the rest of us. Their vows are only as good as their personal resolve.

When I was single I once had a 3 month affair with a Catholic priest that I had met online. Incidently, he did not let me know he was a priest until after we had been going out for a week. When we talked about his vow of chastity, he gave me this convoluted argument that didn't make sense to me, but obviously he used it to convince himself that what he was doing was acceptable. If Sam could justify having sex with me, I'm sure that the average priest would have no problem justifying having a good "wank" now and then.

It became clear fairly early on that I was nothing more than "the other woman" having an affair with a married man. Since this was not what I was looking for in a long term relationship, I unceremoniously kicked his ass to the curb.

I masturbated 3 priests. Nice. Great boys.

So Shame on the three priests who permitted or even invited such activity. They were wrong by their own regulations. You say, "They are great boys." Impressive.
Shame on you because you knew it was so, and apparently did it anyhow. There is that enough shame to go around. Does that make you a great boy too? If this is a boast,
what are you boasting about?
