  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Prince William and Kate Middleton

Maybe. But some people are a lot more fucked up than others...and not for any reason other than that they want to be, though money, power, and fame seem to increase the odds.

Exactly! The rest of us don't have the same opportunity as the rich, powerful, and famous.

Help a non-Brit out.

The NPR reporter this afternoon referred to Kate as the woman who would probably be the queen of England one day. Is that true, or will she be a princess like the royal consort's rank today?

Details, details. . .

When and if he is crowned, she automatically becomes queen consort.

She will be queen if she is still married to William when and if he becomes king. Nothing is ever certain until it happens.

The article is so long for a simple engagement.

I don't know what to say; just hoping William won't step in his father's shoe.

couldn't care less. I can't believe how the "news" channels and talk shows have gone nuts over this. what an utter waste of time.

Steven.

Is the Queen fine with William's choice of bride? I heard she's looking for a shit driver who's unfamiliar with the roads of Paris.

I'm happy for them. They seem a good match. They've been together for many years; they chose each other as partners, the relationship was not an arrangement made by others and isn't a duty; she seems confident and stable. They are close in age and of equal attractiveness. I'll bet it works out great for them.

they chose each other as partners,

Hmmm, some reports have made it sound like she hunted him down like a heat seeking missile!

She had a poster of him on her bedroom wall as a teenager, went on an identical Operation Raleigh trip to Chile after he had been there, then chose to take the same degree course as him at St Andrews.

Why all this fascination with British royal family? This is probably the most famous (or infamous) dysfunctional family on earth I know.

Kate - you should think twice if a life with this family known to have extra maritals and where men can't keep their marriages intact is what you really want to live a normal happy married life. Just like Diana, you will be hounded by the unforgiving British press, and any hope for a private life will forever be lost once married to this family. :(

The King of Sweden might well make the British royal family appear rather puritanical, and predictably run of the mill human beings in comparison:

Oh dear, you sound jealous and bitter. The normal thing to do when people get engaged is to be happy for them and wish them well, not fill the internet with even more hatred and rank ignorance expressed as 'fact'. Not one sentence of what you write is true.

Online forums are filled with lonely gay men complaining about straight people's prejudice or their own poor treatment. isolation, disadvantage and being misunderstood, yet within a few hours they are among the first online to bitch, stereotype and name call about other people they've never met.

Dude, stop with the tunnel vision and ad hominem attacks. Very unnecessary. If you are a public figure then it is expected that people will observe and comment on the things you do in public. After all, the Royal Family is a very public institution in the UK, and Brits have a tremendous amount of respect for these people and are very interested in everything they do.

My comments have nothing to do with hatred or jealousy. It was simply an observation of a trend. What reason do I have to envy these people. I don't know any of them, and I'm sure any opinion I have of them doesn't matter to them in the least. What I wrote in my post IS based on facts. What you wrote in yours is based on assumptions. Think about it.

For a person who apparently intended to present yourself as having an air of rationality, have you not noticed that you, in your post, are guilty of many of the very things you accuse me of? You presume to know a great deal about me and my life, when in fact you know nothing of the sort. Re-read my original post. I did not call anyone any names. But in your little diatribe, you've used several derogatory terms in reference to me. If you think more deeply about what you wrote, maybe you would find that what you wrote is more likely a reflection of your feelings about your own self.

She said in her interview yesterday that she didn't have a poster of William on her wall, but a poster of a Levis model.
