At a guess I'd say those two turned State's evidence against their compatriots. Possibly having a much smaller role in the assault than the others they were offered a deal in exchange for their testimony. Maybe their semen was unidentifiable or they hadn't actually participated in the rape itself but were just there? There are too many facts missing from the story to have a clear idea of what all transpired.

I don't see the "anxiety, fear and depression" in that face. Just a look that seems to say "What the fuck'r you bothering me for? The bitch got just what she wanted. Now get outta my face, I didn't do shit". HE seems more shocked that he's being "harassed" than that he assaulted anyone, after all "She didn't say no".
