I've got it set up so the button appears yet when I go to a video nothing happens. I was told the yahoo toolbar blocks it yet I don't have this, it used to work for me as I've got a library full of clips and videos. I would be handy to have again as I need to get a video for a project and the school I am in blocks Youtube. Can anyone help???

Your school blocks Youtube, yet you can download videos from it?

Anyway, use Firefox with the DownloadHelper add-on and get rid of this Real Player cancer.

Oh sorry I could download from home, but now I can't. I need a video and can only find it on you yube.

Realplayer can do odd things sometimes. All I can suggest is to go to "tools" and do check for updates. The newest version (at least here in the US) is called Real Player SP. If you let Real Player check for updates, sometimes it fixes any problems it finds.

But, if you could download at home, but can't download at school...it sounds like there might be a firewall somewhere at your school that is blocking you.

If you're using a laptop, try finding an internet cafe and see if you can download from there.

Paws suggestion of using FireFox w/ Download helper installed is a good one. I've downloaded many vids to replay offline that way - also gets rid of the annoying freezeframe from viewing outstripping my connection transfer speed.

Note: I've even turned around and purchased some of the CD's, DVD's from the sources as a result. Then there are those vids of music I own that someone has enhanced - ROLT01 and Rick Wakeman Journey to the Center of the Earth, King Arther series are great. Brought back fond memories - we saw Wakeman do Journey live a lifetime or three ago.

I have that problem too ever since I updated to the latest version of Firefox. I have not tried Downloadhelper but if I use Google Chrome browser the Realplayer download button comes up like it should.
I much prefer the Firefox UI but I can always use the other browser if I really want to DL.

btw...It doesn't work on IE8 either.

I had the same problem, after some initial success, with my default browser Firefox 5. Then I read somewhere the Firefox browser will not support RealPlayer downloads. So....I launched my Internet Explorer 8 and voila.... no problem in downloading videos from YouTube and other video sites.

Why are some people so desperate to use piece of shit programs?

And there's no Firefox version 5.

Well Google Chrome worked so I'll just use it for downloading when I need to but again thanks for all the help guys.

You're right - it's 3.5.x
They probably saw the 5.0 next to Mozilla, and quoted it, accidentally.:-)

True. I saw "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)" in the "About" tab.:(

Chip,
It wasn't the end of the Earth. That's happening over in the debate over the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.

Anyone could have made the same mistake. And, if anyone went to download FF, it would have advised them of the current version being downloaded.
