This is for my parents, they have a Samsung Plasma Model #FP-T5084. The television won't turn on at all but what it does is have a red light that blinks rapidly 3 times, then a 4th time where its solid for 2 seconds and it just continually does it.

Have you tried checking the owner's manual to show the blinking code that indicates what the problem is?

How old is it?, there could have been a button on the remote push by accident to put it into another mode-?

1st thing I would do is call the samsung tech line and get info...they should know pretty quick..

The You Tube Video above is right but extremely basic.
A modern capacitor TV rather late model CRT or flat screen are having some big problems.
That red light is a check code. You need to find the make and model check code which is supposed to tell the tech what capacitor or other part failed. Thats by the number of flashes and how it flashes.
Its true a simple part can take down a TV quick, but you have to know which one. Its not always the couple the dude points out in the video. Its also not always a easy job if soldering is required, though I thought he said it wasn't, ahhhhhh don't believe that.

Find the check codes for the red LED light thats first step.
