project runway - season 5

Is it safe to assume that 95% of us are in love with Keith? I don't know what it is about that guy... I remember reading the blogs when the cast was first announced and seeing his picture. Then to find out he was gay was totally icing on the cake. (If anyone has a cap from the first episode where he's in bed shirtless, pass that my way ;))

This season is... well, it's definitely different. From Season 1 through 4, each new group of designers raised the bar a little bit more. I mean, last season had some of the best designers that the show has ever seen -- anything compared to that is going to come off a little lackluster. This group kind of reminds me of Season 1 in a way... a little crazier, I guess.

Usually, by the second episode I'm locked in and loving it, watching the reruns and everything. Not so much this time around. The only time that I really remember laughing and loving the show where when Blayne made fun of Stella's "leathuh" and Tim's "holla atcha boy!" Yeah, he's trying to famewhore it, but he's entertainment nonetheless.

i guess that leaves me in the 5% minority of guys who aren't really turned on by keith.

good looking guy - seems nice, but he doesn't get me going like wesley did. or even blayne, weirdly enough.

i think that given this is the last season of projrun on bravo, they're going for kamikazee action - making it kinda drab, eliminating talented designers first (wesley over blayne? emily over jennifer's piece of crap maternity dress?).

tim doesn't even seem very vested in this season's contestants. it's all very blah.

bravo no longer has a need to advertise the show as much, and i'll bet they're all pissed about the switch to lifetime. so i'm sure they're like, whatever. we'll just half-ass this season...

Which is kind of sad because there does seem to be some talent in the group. I miss Wesley! I wish that we could have seen the Daniel/Wesley relationship on camera.

Stella needs to go home really soon.
i like Kenley and Terri's designs the best so far. i think Terri should have won the last 2 competitions.

i will miss Emily's headbands though.

OMG, stella cannot go home just cause she adds amazing entertaing values, the way she speaks- vocabulary and accent included, but really i don't know if emily 'deserved' to go home i mean it was a design flaw that thing, but at least her dress was well sewn.

yea, thought the same way. usually with the last 4 seasons, I'd have an instant connection with at least one of the contestants (season 1 = rob, season 2 = dan vos, season 3 = uli, season 4 = jack and christian) ... but this season, none really excite me much.

Stella needs to go home really soon.

haha, stella annoys the hell out of me. i second that!

Am I the only one that absolutely loves Stella's comedy? Her and Blayne and the whole leathuh conversation was hilarious! Blayne is no Christian, but he's fitting into the comedic role this season.

By the way, what was up with Blayne and Kenley during the last episode? He looks at her all wide-eyed and says something like, "I will eat you." It was so weird but I couldn't help but crack up.

^yeh, that interchange was ridiculous. blayne scares the crap out of me. but his perfectly tan, twink body... i mean, come on. how could you not get hard seeing him in those red short shorts?

even though i haven't connected with the designers yet, the selection of hot gay guys this season is truly unprecedented - so we have to give the show some credit this season for the gay eye candy.

i mean - wesley, blayne, daniel, jerell, keith...

pretty damn incredible. i wouldn't mind seeing all five of those guys in some sort of orgy.

i'm really rooting for daniel at this point (his blue plastic cup dress from the first challenge totally won me over), but i get the feeling this season is going to go to a female designer - maybe korto? we'll see.

ps: even as a guy, i would totally wear leann's skirt from the last challenge. very banana republic.

Wow, did no one watch tonight? I can't believe no one's posted yet.

What the hell's the matter with those bottom two? I never watch the Olympics and even I know that you have to incorporate red, white and blue in every outfit.

And I fully agreed with the winning design. Definitely a designer to watch.

Even if you haven't watched the Olympic Opening ceremonies, I think that you know that you are tailoring to a USA athletic women...not a model cocktail dress. Jennifer's dress was just god awful, gold striped dress with that jacket.

I don't know what it is about this season but it is crap. I know that Project Runway will be going to Lifetime, but that shouldn't have any impact on the show.

I was really impressed with Daniel early on, but not only was his dress inappropriate for the challenge, it was badly made as well.

The straight guy is really starting to get on my nerves. I knew he wouldn't win, since he kept saying he would. "Queens", indeed!

I am more impressed by Korto each week. She may wind up taking the whole thing.

Jennifer's only hope is to go back in time to the 50s and design poodle skirts with matching sweaters.

See to me that seems like intentional editing because they know there's a huge gay fan base. When you talk about drama and queens in the same sentence my mind is more prone to go to the phrase drama queen than the association of the word queen with gay people.

^^What group did you think coined the term "drama queen." It was originally applied to gay men by gay men. Then it spread to the larger population

He's been in the fashion world for years. He knew exactly what he was saying.

Dude drama queen is a phrase that can be applied to any person of any gender or sexual preference. The only criteria is that the person is melodramatic.

I can't believe I'm still watching this season. It's funny how Blaine is having tanning withdrawal. I hope he stays on long enough for us to see him with normal skin tone. That straight guy was the one acting like a drama queen. How can he expect all the other designers to take note of his movements/preferences in the sewing machine room?? And it looked like all the other machines had white thread on already, so what was the big deal? Besides, it's not exactly the most complicated or time consuming task to thread a machine. But then again, his fat fingers might not be as nimble as other people's.

It's Ironic because his the one acting like a fucking Queen.

As for the bottom two, I'm so disappointed with Daniel. He was one of my favorite designers but he needs to know that there's more to fashion than glamour and cocktail dresses. He's turning into Rami who got stuck on draping everything.

Glad Jennifer's gone.

He was quoted (word for word) in the Entertainment Weekly recap as saying: "There's too much drama and too many queens." Clearly a homophobic statement.

I do realize that the phrase "drama queen" has made it into the wider world. I was just noting its gay origins. And, in any case, he didn't say "drama queens." He said "queens."

I agreed with Korto and Straight Guy being in the top three. I figured it would come down to the two of them, and hers was just a bit more a stylish whereas his was a tad too literal.

I wasn't surprised that Jennifer went home. Decent decision, I guess. Although I was certain that Jerell's monstrosity was going to be the one that provoked Nina's "It just looks silly" comment.

It's strange.

Last year's group were, on the whole, great at design, but many of them were weak at construction.

This year it seems the opposite is true.

I don't know, this season is just....blah. The contestants can't even compare to the earlier seasons (although I admittedly haven't seen alot of season one.) Come on, Season Two had Santino, Chloe, Daniel, and Andre. Season Three had Uli, Michael, and Jeffrey, and last season had Chris, Jack, Rami, Gillian and Christian. MOst of these people were either great designers, entertaining, or both. This season...not much. I'm still pissed that Wesley got kicked off (he was so cute! Very *|*) Daniel's okay, I like Kevin, and Blayne is at least funny. If they get kicked off, I'm done. I have no reason to watch. The straight guy who argued with Daniel needs to go ASAP. He annoys me, and he's from where I live which sucks. Is it just me or does Tim not seem that interested in the contestants this year, either? I also find myself disagreeing with the judges more this season as well. Oh well.
