Project Runway (season 8)

Gretchen did not deserve to be called out so blatantly by tim.

It was primarily the other members of the team that were being "called out."

He gave everyone clear instructions: Design an outfit using your own aesthetic, but make the five designs cohesive, and there was to be no team leader.

The winning team followed his instructions. The losing team didn't.

They allowed Gretchen to take over and essentially design the collection and then tell them what to make.

So he asked the losing team, essentially, why they didn't do what they were told to do.

Gretchen deserves part of the blame for wanting to taking over, but they didn't have to listen to her. And they clearly weren't following the rules for the challenge.

I'm not so sure she did bully or manipulate them. They saw her as someone who'd won 2 challenges and they seemed quite anxious to let her take the lead.

That being said, I can't stand her, and I've considered nearly every one of her designs dated.

There's absolutely no excuse or reason for them to treat Michael C. the way they do. They never congratulate him when he wins they just scowl and pout. Ive never seen a cast act like that. And it's obvious their complaints about his work are affected by their negative feelings toward him. Thanks largely to Ivy and Gretchen who both seem to be dominating the group thought.

The judges have been doing this show for 8 seasons and worked in fashion with far superior designers. These clowns have no right to question the judges.

I dont think Mondo's was as amazing as everyone else. Plus her hair was ridiculous and distracting. Mondo doesnt have the best styling instincts at all.

I do agree with the catty ness, btu its just one group of people against another, just like high school.

i have to agree with aijalon18 too in saying that i dont think Mondo's was the great master piece they made it out to be.

and yes the hair was jsut like over the top sweet sixteen

I can't wait to watch tonight. Even though I've been working weird hours and will probably be very tired, I make time for this show weekly!

Yay! That was awesome! No teeny 12piece collection now! It started 20mins early. Fashionably early?

That taupe gown at the end was Fierce! The last red gown too, but imo the cascade on the shoulder was too overpowering.

So proud of Siriano! Best designer to ever be on Project Runway. That's why he's been the most successful.

the pictures of the current project runway finalist collections and the decoys are starting to pop up... like last season, there is a ridiculous amount of decoys. i think that cheapens the prize of project runway, but the upside is that we get to see many collections. as im writing this, most (but not all) of the looks have been revealed.

unsurprisingly, im loving mondo.
andy and michael d are disappointing, given what they have shown during the competition so far.
gretchen and valerie are not to my taste, but they definitly have talent.
casnanova and michael c are tacky, but as tacky as they coulda been.
ivy surprisingly doesnt suck, but im not blown away either.
havent made my mind up about april and chris.

my guess for the top 3: gretchen, valerie, mondo.

oh, and the guest judge is: jessica simpson.
WHAT.THE.FUCK.

I've only looked at Ivy's collection and thought it was kind of dull.

LOL! Yeah, what's up with Jessica Simpson being the guest judge? I know she has a line of clothing out but I figured other people designed it. Oh well. She seems like a nice chick.

oh oh oh... what i meant was "casnanova and michael c are tacky, but not as tacky as they coulda been."

im following project rungay for the collections

im having trouble loving christian siriano. its not just that i found him rather obnoxious on the show. its that his work looked exciting and polished in the context of project runway, where it was always surrounded by crappy dresses, but now that its competing against other fashion houses, im finding it rather uninspired. his current collection looks to me like half mcqueen-lite, half "im designing for the rich!". the rich-bitch aesthetic may be clever from a commercial standpoint, but artistically its just not very interesting. and mcqueen-lite has been done better by others.

holy cow, did gretchen really present her collection wearing a sheer dress over a leotard?

im not felling aprils collection, as much as i love her and most of her work on the show. chris' collection is kinda cute, though.

assuming that the top three are mondo, gretchen, and val: i always thought that valerie is being edited to be the winner of the season, but looking at the collection, i think its weaker than mondos and gretchens. im of course hopin that mondo will win, but im guessing that hey will give it to gretchen, for maximum audience outrage.

I think gretchen is in the top but I dont like her collection at all. I actually really like Michael Costello's. Valerie's is coll. She has such a strong point of view. But it looks like the wardrobe to a Katy Perry music video set. Mondo is really cool too.

The photos up at project rungay of the runway is the season finale, yes? The rest are just there as decoys, as in to not spoil the surprise of who actually won? Wow... well, based on what I saw, I actually loved Michael Costello's the most O____O... and Mondo.

Eh, I spoiled the finale for myself I don't know why I peeped, although it doesn't say who the top 3 and winners are so something to look forward to I guess.

I really enjoyed the Mondo - Michael team in the most recent episode.

After all the nasty team-ups it was so fun to see a team start in a bad place and end up so mutually supportive. How great was that scene near there end with their arms around each others' shoulders???

Best season in a long, long time.

Michael and Mondo were so cute in this episode. Mondo was one of my favorites but he was being so awful to Michael when it began. I loved that he apologized. It seemed so sincere and genuine. ow adorable when they had their arms around each other in the waiting room, even though the judges hated Mondo's bikini.

Andy has gone down in my books. How ridiculous when he was trying to explain his mistreatment of Michael b/c he did know him as a designer. WTF? He's not Heidi, Tim, or Nina. He doesnt need to understand Michael to treatment him with common human courtesy.

Kudos to Mondo for being adult enough to be able to break out of the group-think, for being "man" enough to admit that he and the others had treated Michael like crap, and for being wise enough to realize that the judges are not crazy and are professionals--and that they are, after all, the judges.

^ Ah, but Mr. Hammer's crotch was down around his knees. This would have been much more charming. And boys, unlike women, like--and we like to look at--thicker thighs, or what are cargo pants and shorts for?

considering that Siriano interned or worked at Alexander Mcqueen and that most of his designs on the show especially his final collection had heavy Mcqueen aesthetic are you really that surprised about the results?
